It must have been the outbreak in Noganlul that caught the attention of foreign tribes beyond the western border. Taking advantage of Kane’s momentary lapse, their spies slipped across the border, blended in with the locals, and eventually made their way to Hasen City
Ross thought.

earth gives them the nerve to try and assassinate Prince Nolan?
‘Luckily, Nolan has always been sharp and vigilant, so their plan fell apart before they could even get close.
As for the disfigurement, that’s easy to figure out. Foreigners look way too different from the people of Bortenland. Without altering their faces. they’d stand out immediately.
However, Ross suddenly realized something was wrong when he thought about it.
He thought again. How could their preparations seem so thorough yet so careless at the same time?
The whole assassination attempt was baffling–sloppy, rushed, and downright absurd.
If they went through all the trouble sneaking into Hasen City, shouldn’t they have planned the assassination more carefully?
Instead, they only sent a handful of people.
“Honestly, it would’ve been a miracle if they had managed to even scratch Nolan.
In the end, they all ended up dead, leaving just one survivor to be captured, while Nolan didn’t even get a scratch
The whole thing was just weird.
Ross didn’t hesitate to voice his doubts.
Nolan listened quietly, his gaze calm and unreadable. Instead of addressing Ross’s concerns, he asked, “What about Fletcher Henderson? Have you made any progress on the investigation I assigned you?”
Ross shook his head with a frustrated sigh. “I haven’t been able to find anything, Prince Nolan, Fletcher seems to have plenty of minor Issues and family troubles, but when it comes to anything significant–especially anything tied to the Bennett family’s past–there’s nothing at all.”
Ross couldn’t help but ask, “Prince Nolan, could we be looking in the wrong direction? Maybe Isabelle someone else in the Henderson family?”
“No, it’s him. Nolan’s tone was firm, leaving no room for argument.

“Yes. Investigate him, but don’t stop there. Look into the western border and the people backing Sophie from the Duke’s estate. I want everything laid bare,” Nolan ordered coldly.
Nolan’s eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint flickering within.
Nolan thought, An assassination involved two factions.
It’s as if they coordinated–one side using the other to test the waters.
And when exposed, one faction even left deliberate traces to mislead us,

Nolan suddenly had a thought.
“Where is Gilbert now?” asked Nolan
The mention of the name immediately jogged Ross’s memory. “Now that you mention it, he seems to be in Noganlul.”
Earlier reports from Ross’s men had confirmed Gilbert had indeed gone to Noganlul.
And wasn’t he one of the foreigners? That made things even more suspicious.
“Keep a close watch on his movements. If he makes contact with any other foreigners, track them all,” said Nolan.
