Chapter 4
I didn’t move into the apartment Dorian had so kindly rented for me.
Instead, I checked myself into a postpartum recovery center.
When the front desk learned I’d had a miscarriage, the receptionist kindly arranged a quiet, secluded room for me.
The peace lasted for a few days–until my phone buzzed with a push notification.
That’s when I realized that I’d forgotten to log out of the smart monitoring system for the wedding house.
I tapped the alert by accident.
The screen lit up with Dorian and his new mate, Selina, locked in a deep kiss as they stumbled through the front door.
But when Dorian looked around and took in the now–barren house, he abruptly pushed her away.
“What the hell happened in here?”
He pulled out his phone and started dialing me.
The call barely rang once before Selina snatched it out of his hand.
“Ugh, seriously? You’re with me and still thinking about your ex–mate? Focus.‘
She wrapped her arms around his neck, fingers sliding expertly down his shirt.
Dorian, impatient and feverish, shoved her against the wall, kissing her like a man starved.
Not even on our first night together had he ever touched me like that.
Within seconds, their clothes were strewn across the floor.
“Dorian,” she purred, breathless, “I just got out of the hospital… You better go easy on me tonight.“.
He groaned, eyes red at the corners, like he was about to burst.
“Baby, I’ve been holding back for too long. Can’t you… take care of me this time?”
Selina giggled, tracing his jaw with her finger.
“Well, that depends on your behavior.”
“Between me and your ex–mate–who do you love more?”
Dorian’s breath hitched. But when he answered, his voice was cold.
“Corinna’s my fiancée. Who do you think?”
“We agreed from the start this was just mutual benefit. If your body weren’t so fragile, it wouldn’t be your turn to serve me right now.”
Selina’s face crumpled, tears instantly brimming in her eyes.
“I almost died trying to please you, and now you want someone else? Then go find them!”
Dorian panicked. He–hated crying women.
He pulled her into his arms, kissing her again and again, whispering apologies until her sobs turned into moans.
From the couch… to the bedroom… to the bathroom.
I watched it all.
And realized, once again, that Dorian never loved me.

After his accident, I cried myself to sleep every night.
But he never saw my swollen eyes.
He called me dramatic. Told me not to weaponize my tears.
And now? He was parading women around openly, saying that even if he had once loved me, sleeping around didn’t make him a bad
guy.
Watching him like this, I thanked the Moon Goddess that I hadn’t kept our child.
Because with the way he worshiped Selina’s body, even if he marked me, he’d still sneak around with her.
I could never compete with her skills.
As their heavy breathing began once more, I quietly exited the app and permanently logged out.
The next morning, I was woken up by Dorian’s call.
It was the first time he’d reached out since the accident.
But I didn’t answer.
There was nothing left to say.
Unable to get through, he sent a text instead:
Dorian: [Corinna, what the hell? I agreed to mark you–so why did you trash the whole house?]
I didn’t want to be humiliated again, so I decided to keep it from him for now.
Corinna replied: [I didn’t like that house anymore. I bought a seaside villa and moved.]
Seconds later, I got a friend request.
From Selina.
I rejected it immediately.
But she was persistent. She messaged again, claiming she had a private video of Dorian and me.
I accepted, but what she sent was a sex video between her and Dorian.
Two minutes in, she “apologized” with a crying emoji.
Selina: [Oops, my bad! I misread it and now I can’t unsend it what should I do?)
—
Selina: (Totally my fault for not looking closely – I actually thought that steamy scene was between you and Dorian! I was wondering, if you’d gotten that good, why would Dorian still be obsessed with my body? Turns out… the female lead was me all along!]
Selina: (Corinna, if I were you, I’d pay someone to teach me how to please an Alpha. maybe then your Alpha wouldn’t have walked away.]
And then came the cherry on top–a money transfer.
$2,000.
Selina: [Payment for your blood donation. If money can settle it, I have no intention of trading my mate for it. Our mating ceremony is coming up. Hope you’ll come celebrate with us!)
