Chapter 6
The Beta sounded like he was on the verge of tears, then forced himself to speak clearly:
“Dorian… Corinna never moved in. And according to the neighbor, she already threw out everything from the past six years you spent together–including photo albums and your wedding pictures.”
“What? That’s impossible! She told me she bought a seaside villa. She must’ve just moved there!”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” the Beta groaned. “We nearly lost it. Send us the address–we’ll take the gown over there right away.”
On the other end of the call, Dorian fell silent.
Because that’s when it hit him–he didn’t know where that villa was.
Didn’t know anything about it.
Panicking, he ordered the Beta to check my property records.
The results came back quickly.
I owned nothing.
Not a single property.
Even the wedding house that had once been under my name… was no longer mine.
The full weight of dread finally slammed into Dorian’s chest.
Something was very wrong.
He spun on his heel, ready to bolt from the ceremonial altar and head home.
But Selina was already waiting for him at the venue’s grand entrance, clad in a snow–white gown that shimmered under the sun.
She stepped into his path, smiling sweetly.
“Dorian, she’s obviously still upset about the blood donation thing. A woman that petty doesn’t deserve you.”
“The mating ceremony’s about to begin–everyone’s already here. Why not just mark me instead? I’d spend my whole life with you.
As she spoke, her hand trailed teasing circles along Dorian’s lower abdomen.
Any other day, that touch would’ve had him pinned against the wall in seconds.
But today?
Today, Dorian slapped her hand away.
His tone was glacial.
“Selina, I’ve made myself clear. From now on, we’re strangers.”
“And if you’re the reason Corinna doesn’t show up–don’t think I won’t tell your father exactly where you’ve been.”
Selina’s eyes turned red, tears welling up like a tragic heroine.
”
“Dorian… Are you saying you never cared for me? That all those things you said—wanting to die in my arms
-were all lies?”
He couldn’t stand her crying anymore.
His temper snapped.
“The Luna of the Blackthorn Pack will only ever be Corinna!”
“I’m going to find her. And you? You can get the hell out of my life.”

He shoved then stormed off and sped away.
Running red light after red light, his knuckles white on the steering wheel.
When he finally got back to the neighborhood, his legs were shaking so badly he nearly collapsed climbing out of the car.
He pulled up the security footage on his phone.
There, in clear resolution, was the housekeeper–tossing bag after bag of their memories into the trash.
All the things Corinna had once treasured… g
gone.
Discarded like garbage.
Dorian clutched his chest, his heart a thousand daggers twisting at once.
His face turned pale as he tried to call me.
But I didn’t answer.
He opened our old chat thread on WhatsApp. Scrolled.
It had been seventeen days.
Seventeen days since we last spoke.
And in those seventeen days, he had indulged himself–drinking, partying, bedding Selina–without a second thought for me.
If not for a calendar reminder last night, he would’ve completely forgotten that today was our mating ceremony.
Even if he couldn’t let go of Selina, he’d still intended to mark me today.
After all, these seventeen days were the most carefree days of his life, and my obedience deserved to be rewarded with a mating ceremony as promised.
But now?
Now he didn’t know what the hell to do.
He stood there trembling like a lost child, staring at his friends.
“What should I do?” he whispered. “Do you think Corinna’s really leaving me?”
“She said she didn’t need me to mark her. Was that her way of saying goodbye…?”
His Betas, seeing him so broken, rushed to console him.
“Come on, Dorian. What man hasn’t fooled around a little? Corinna’s just being emotional.”
“She’ll come back. She always does.”
“You know what you should do? Go through with the ceremony with Selina. Fake it. Corinna’s clearly testing you. She probably thinks you’re still hung up on her. If she sees you moving on, she’ll panic and come running.”
“Don’t show weakness now, or she’ll have you on a leash for life.”
Hope began to flicker in Dorian’s eyes.
He nodded eagerly.
“Yes… Yes, that’s it!”
“Corinna once promised she’d be with me for life. If she thinks I’m really going to mark Selina, she won’t be able to stand it. She’ll show
herself.”
“Let’s go back. Let’s hold the mating ceremony. Livestream it, even!”
