Chapter 10
A piercing scream echoed through the entire banquet hall. Blood spurted violently, splattering onto Clarisse’s pristine white dress like
a blooming red rose.
Chaos erupted instantly, screams rising all around.
But Clarisse remained astonishingly calm. Her cold gaze swept over the crowd, and her red lips parted slightly.
“Forgive me for the spectacle. My mother died early, and no one taught me, so when I have a grudge,”
She pulled the knife from Grace’s hand, blood spraying onto her face.
“I settle it then and there.”
Grace’s agonized cries echoed through the auction room, but Clarisse tossed the knife aside and turned to leave directly.
At the doorway, a hand clamped down fiercely on her wrist.
Leopold had seemingly rushed over upon hearing the commotion, a blanket folded in one hand.
Clarisse’s heart clenched.
So he’d come to fetch things for Grace.
“You’ve really lost your mind, haven’t you?” Leopold’s face was ice–cold and terrifying.
“You dare hurt her just over a necklace? If she does something worse that you don’t like, will you start killing her next?”
His grip was brutal, as if trying to crush her wrist bones. Clarisse bit back the pain, tears reddening her eyes.
“Why don’t y
you ask what she did? She took my mother’s necklace and…‘
“Even if she fed that necklace to a dog, you still can’t hurt her!” Leopold cut her off sharply.
His words stabbed through her like a blade.
She suddenly laughed, tears streaming down her face.
“Well, I’ve already done it now: So what does Alpha Leopold plan to do to ‘discipline‘ me?”
“I’m done with you,” Leopold’s voice dropped to a cold sneer.
“Someone take her to the Pack Enforcement Office. Charge her with intentional assault.”
Clarisse’s head shot up suddenly, disbelief flooding her.
He was really going to throw her in jail for Grace?
She bit her lip hard until she tasted blood, but not a single word escaped her lips. She let the Pack enforcers haul her away.
Her last glance caught Leopold lifting Grace into his arms, whispering softly, “Don’t cry. I’m here.”
Three days in the Pack Prison was the worst time Clarisse had ever endured.

She was locked in the filthiest cell, and the other inmates, clearly instructed, found cruel ways to torment her.
On the first day, they stripped her naked and doused her with freezing water.
The second day, they slipped glass shards into her food. Her stomach twisted with hunger, but she couldn’t eat.
On the last day, a group of inmates forced her into a toilet stall and rained down a storm of fists.
“I hear you pissed off the wrong people,” the ringleader sneered, and she gripped Clarisse’s chin viciously.
“Alpha Leopold said you need to ‘learn your lesson.”

Clarisse curled into a ball on the floor, her eyes red and swollen.
She refused to believe Leopold would go this far, but every wound on her body screamed the
truth that he really had the heart to do it.
Three days later, when the Pack enforcers finally came to release her, Clarisse could barely stand.
She staggered out of the Pack Prison, but had barely crossed the threshold before collapsing.
The next time she woke, it was in a hospital bed.
“Have you learned your lesson this time?” Leopold stood by her bedside, voice cold and distant.
Clarisse stared silently at the ceiling, saying nothing.
A sudden surge of anger flared within Leopold’s chest, but before he could speak, a nurse hurried in.
“Leopold, Grace is crying out in pain again…”
“You’d better reflect on yourself,” Leopold said, turning away.
“Don’t cause any more trouble.”
