At the entrance hall, Clarisse stopped.
Her fingers unconsciously traced the lighter in her pocket.
It was a birthday gift from Leopold, engraved with his own handwriting: “To Clary.”
Suddenly, she laughed.
In the next second, without hesitation, she flicked the lighter open, ignited it, and threw it at the curtains.
Flames roared up instantly, quickly engulfing the entire living room.
Clarisse stood outside wolf castle, quietly watching the fire devour the sofa they had once had sex on, the dining table where they had kissed on, and that bed-
The bed she had once naïvely believed had held even a fleeting moment of his affection.
Leopold arrived an hour later.
His black car screeched to a halt in front of wolf castle, tires scraping the ground.
He flung open the door and was met with towering flames and Clarisse sitting calmly on a suitcase.
She stared silently at the burning wolf castle, the firelight casting a glow on her pale face, tears still wet on her lashes.
A pang struck Leopold’s chest.
He had countless questions, but when he saw her reddened eyes, they all caught in his throat.
“You burned the house down,” he finally said in a low voice. “So are you feeling better now, Miss Clarisse?”
Clarisse slowly lifted her gaze.
Those eyes that had once been full of love were now nothing but dead silence.
She looked at Leopold as if he were a stranger, saying not a word.
“Alpha Leopold,” a Beta hurried over. “The private jet is ready. The meeting at Moonrest Hollow can’t be delayed any longer.”
Leopold pressed his fingers against his forehead. “Take care of this wolf castle.”
He paused, then glanced at Clarisse. “Send her to another pack house.”
“No need,” Clarisse finally spoke, her voice hoarse but resolute. “I’m going home.”
Leopold thought she had finally given in and would return to the Eboncrest Pack. His brows relaxed slightly. “Good that you see reason.”
He turned and strode away, his black coat billowing in the night wind. “I can’t always be there to catch you.”
Clarisse stayed where she was,
watching his receding figure. A bitter smile crept onto her lips.
voice so soft it almost vanished into the night breeze. “This is goodbye.”
“Leopold,” she whispered, her f
“What?” he called back.
Clarisse had already opened the taxi door and climbed in.
Leopold thought she was throwing another tantrum and didn’t ask further, getting into his own car.
He didn’t notice the two vehicles driving one after the other toward the airport.
At the private jet’s tarmac, Leopold took the documents handed by the Beta and boarded without a glance back.

Meanwhile, inside the terminal, Clarisse transferred the past two weeks‘ rent and medical expenses to Leopold, then tossed her phone
into a trash bin and headed without looking back to the boarding gate for Silverden.
The two planes took off simultaneously, flying in opposite directions, never to cross paths again.
Three days later, Leopold’s meeting finally ended.
Rubbing his throbbing temples, he powered on his phone, which had been off for days.
Countless messages flooded in–Grace had sent more than ninety–nine messages, while Clarisse had sent only one.
He instinctively opened Clarisse’s chat.
It was a single transfer notification,
“Note: Two Weeks‘ rent + medical fees.”
Besides that, not a single word.
Leopold frowned deeply, nearly laughing in anger.
His long slender fingers tapped the screen. He sent a message to Clarisse,
“Do you think I’m short of this little money? What kind of relationship do we have that you insist on keeping such strict accounts with me?
After sending the message, he stared at the screen for ten minutes.
Normally, whenever he messaged, Clarisse would reply instantly.
But this time, the chat was hauntingly silent.
He dialed her number directly.
“I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off…”
A mechanical female voice came through the receiver.
