Chapter 2
Every time she went against him, Leopold would simply hoist her over his shoulder and carry her into his office. Outsiders assumed he was disciplining her, but in reality, he was pinning her down on his desk, kissing her until her legs gave out.
Over time, Clarisse realized she had become addicted.
Was it because he was that good?
Or was it because she was just that lonely?
She didn’t know.
All she knew was that both her wolf and her soul had fallen for him, completely.
So on his birthday, she spent the entire day decorating the wolf castle.
She prepared roses, candlelight, piano music and even a proposal ring.
But Clarisse waited the whole night. She waited until the candles burned out, and the roses wilted, but he never came.
She had been waiting until 3 a.m., and her phone suddenly buzzed with a breaking news alert,
#The Alpha of the Auremere Pack Seen Picking Up His First Love at the Airport Late at Night#
In the photo, Leopold was carefully shielding a girl in a white dress as he helped her into a car.
His gaze was so gentle, it hurt to look at.
The comment section was flooded with heated discussions.
“It’s amazing! What a perfect Alpha–Omega couple. They’re adorable!”
“Holy crap! Isn’t that Alpha Leopold and Grace? They used to be the dream team at our school!”
“I’m from the same school and I can vouch for it! Alpha Leopold was cold to everyone, but he smiled at Grace! If it weren’t for her health issues and she had gone to Moonrest Hollow for recovery, they would’ve been bonded ages ago!”
Her phone slipped from her fingers and hit the floor with a sharp crack.
Clarisse stared at the screen, unable to believe her eyes.
If Leopold had always loved someone else, then what did that make her?
A warm body he could call for one–night stands on whenever he pleased?
With trembling fingers, she dialed his number, desperate for an explanation. But the call never connected.

After the final failed attempt, Clarisse lowered the phone and walked into the one room she’d never been allowed to enter, Leopold’s
study.
The moment she opened the door, she was totally shocked and felt like she’d been struck by lightning.
The entire room was filled with photographs of Grace.
There were graduation pictures, travel snapshots, even candid shots of her asleep.
Leopold, who had always been aloof and restrained, was actually capable of this kind of obsession.
Whether she got an answer or not no longer seemed to matter.
Clarisse suddenly let out a laugh, a sharp, bitter sound that echoed through the empty room like a cruel joke.
She kept laughing, even as hot tears spilled down her cheeks and fell to the floor from her delicate jawline.
Then she destroyed the entire wolf castle, eyes red with fury.

When Leopold returned the next morning and saw the chaos, he simply calmly instructed the staff to clean up.
He didn’t even glance at her, as if her outburst was just routine and meant nothing at all.
Clarisse watched, numb, as a servant swept the proposal ring she had so carefully chosen into the trash.
He had no idea what had been inside that little box.
He even had no idea she had once imagined spending the rest of her life with him.
And he never had no idea that in the moment that ring was swept into the trash, she decided she would never love him again.
“Miss Clarisse, where’re you going to?” the driver asked, pulling her back to reality.
Clarisse opened her eyes and replied coldly, “Take me back to the Eboncrest Pack.”
When she arrived at the wolf castle, Alpha Vexley immediately came to greet her.
“Clarisse, is it true? You’re really willing to marry into the Noctelle Pack?”
On the stairs above, her stepmother looked down at her with hopeful eyes.
“It’s true,” Clarisse said, her gaze growing cold. “But didn’t I say I had one condition?”
“What condition? Tell us!”
“I want to,” she said slowly, enunciating every word, “I want to sever ties with you as my father.”
The air instantly grew heavy.
Alpha Vexley’s face twisted with anger. “You’ve lost your mind! Do you even know what you’re saying?”
“I’ve never been clearer,” Clarisse said, her voice as cold as ice. “You cheated on my mother, your Luna. You forced my mother to step down as Luna for this woman, and you drove her to her death. From that day on, I stopped recognizing you as my father.”
She stared directly at his darkened face. “Now that the dying Alpha of Noctelle Pack is offering a hundred billion to find a mate, you’ve spent the last three months pressuring me. If I hadn’t agreed, would you have dragged me there in chains?”
“So really, what difference does it make whether we sever ties or not?” Her lips curved in a mocking smile. “Now you can bring your mistress’s daughter back and make her the heir to Eboncrest Pack.”
Alpha Vexley trembled with rage. “Fine! Cut ties if you want! But it’s said that the Alpha of the Noctelle Pack might not even live past the end of the month. You must bond with him before then!”
He gave a cold laugh. “As for Margot’s daughter, she returned from Moonrest Hollow a few days ago and has been staying at a hotel. Since you’re giving up your position, she’ll move in tomorrow.”
Clarisse let out a bitter laugh, her heart aching.
“You’re so eager to raise someone else’s daughter while neglecting your own. What a joke. You’re truly one of a kind.”
