Chapter 3
The restaurant fell silent instantly, with everyone turning to look at Chloe, completely convinced of her identity as someone reborn.
Chloe put on a heavy expression and lowered her head, sighing, “Since things are already destined, what’s meant to happen will happen. All we can do is accept reality.”
She deliberately looked my way: “Leah, I think you should understand this too.”
I met her gaze: “What are you trying to say?”
Chloe glanced at Josh with a troubled expression: “I know you’ve been waiting for Mr. Green to promote you to senior partner, but unfortunately, the person Mr. Green has in mind is me. I know you don’t want to accept it, but there’s nothing we can do this is destined to happen.”
Josh, still in shock, was stunned. I could tell that before Chloe said this, he hadn’t even considered the promotion, but after her two successful predictions earlier, he was completely convinced by her.
He immediately said, “Yes, Chloe, you’re right. I was indeed planning to make you senior partner.”
Then he looked at me: “Leah, this is destined. It can’t be

changed.”
I sneered inwardly and looked at Chloe: “Ms. Hill, what you want isn’t just the senior partner position, but also those cases I handle that make up almost half the firm’s business, right?”
Chloe avoided my gaze, not expecting me to see through her intentions. She immediately retorted: “Don’t talk nonsense! How could someone reborn like me care about your measly cases? I’m just telling everyone what’s about to happen!”
“Really?” I smiled slightly, staring at Chloe: “Then are you going to predict next that I’m planning to jump ship because you stole my position?”
Chloe’s expression changed instantly, and she instinctively glanced at Martin nearby, clearly panicked.
She quickly composed herself and looked at me again: “Looks like you’re feeling guilty, so you revealed your plan early? Since that’s the case, I won’t hide it from everyone anymore. Mr.
Green, Leah wants to jump ship to our rival Verity Law Firm, and then she’ll use our firm’s resources to crush us. Eventually, the firm will go bankrupt and we’ll all have to disband!”
“Is what she’s saying true?” Josh’s expression immediately turned cold, looking at me with hostility.
Chloe glanced at Martin, who immediately put on a grave expression and stepped forward to “testify” for Chloe.

“Leah, so that offer in your email was from Verity Law Firm!
I thought it was spam and didn’t pay attention to it. Now I see you’ve been planning to betray our firm all along!”
Martin is my boyfriend, so his words naturally made Chloe’s accusations even more credible.
My colleagues immediately looked at me with strange expressions and began whispering among themselves.
“Chloe is amazing! She actually knew in advance that Leah was going to betray us. She really saved us all–otherwise the firm would go bankrupt and we’d all lose our jobs.”
“I’m getting goosebumps. I never imagined Leah could be such a scheming person, even hiding things from her own boyfriend!”
L
“Exactly! If Chloe hadn’t been reborn and come back, we would’ve all become sacrificial pawns in Leah’s plan!”
Just like in my previous life, everyone refused to give me any chance to explain.
Josh’s face turned ashen as he slammed the table and stood up. “Leah, I’ve mentored and promoted you for so many years, and this is how you repay me?”
Chloe watched everyone’s reactions with satisfaction, then walked up to Josh and looked directly at me. “Sorry, Leah, but
3/5
for the sake of hundreds of jobs at this firm, I had to tell the truth. I can’t let the entire firm be destroyed just to protect one person–you understand, right?”
I looked at her smug expression, at Martin standing on her side, at my boss and colleagues with their hostile stares, and felt my heart turn cold as ice.
In my previous life, they caused my tragic death, and now they want to do it again. I absolutely won’t let them succeed!
I clenched my fists and looked up at Martin. “I never sent my resume to Verity Law Firm–there’s no way I could have received an offer from them!”
Chloe laughed softly. “Leah, stop denying it! Martin saw it with his own eyes. What’s the point of pretending?
The legal profession despises betrayal above all else. If Josh makes your situation public, you’ll never work in this industry again! I suggest you apologize to Josh right now–maybe I can even put in a good word for you.”
Martin immediately chimed in: “Exactly! When you’re blacklisted from the industry and living in poverty, it’ll be too late for regrets. No one will want anything to do with you then!”
“Is that so?” I let out a cold laugh and slowly walked toward Chloe, stopping right in front of her. “Since you’ve been reborn, don’t your memories from your previous life tell you
that my
4/5
computer has hidden surveillance software?”
Chloe’s smile vanished instantly. “What do you mean?”
“It’s simple. Who actually used my computer to secretly send a resume to Verity Law Firm, and who’s really colluding with them behind the scenes—my computer surveillance recorded everything. I’m going to open it right now and let everyone see for themselves!”
I opened my laptop with a cold smile, turned the screen toward Josh, and directly pulled up the surveillance footage.
Soon, a clear figure appeared on the screen. Everyone present immediately changed color, turning their heads to look.
