I didn’t say a word, brushing past the two of them.
At least for now, she had to beg and scrape just to get upstairs, to be shooed away while trying to deliver a simple file. It meant the distance between her and Nicolai was still vast.
Good.
The “destructive power of a white moonlight” seemed a bit overrated.
“Serena! Aren’t you going to say something? If it wasn’t for me, do you think you’d even be worthy? Do you think it would have been your turn?” My dismissive attitude must have finally pushed her over the edge, because she shouted after me.
Chapter 2
Everyone in the secretarial pool looked up.
I stopped and slowly took off my sunglasses.
“Where is the head secretary?”

A woman in a well–tailored suit hurried over. With a wave of her hand, two security guards grabbed Chloe and her colleague and
dragged them away.
It was not a dignified exit.
Chloe, fuming, spat that I should just wait and see.
Clara coolly reminded the head secretary, “Don’t let her on the executive floor again.”
It was an unnecessary warning. I had never considered Chloe a threat. I had only come to see where Nicolai’s heart truly lay. If a
single glance from her could move him, then this marriage wasn’t worth fighting for.
Nicolai was a man of extreme self–control. If he still had feelings for Chloe, he would have done something. And with his business
acumen, if he wanted a divorce, I knew I’d be kicked to the curb in the most humiliating way possible if I wasn’t prepared.
He was ruthless with his business rivals.
