Sebastian’s face fell instantly, dread seeping in. “That’s… that’s not good…”
Then his gaze dropped to the sight of our hands clasped together. Suddenly, his expression lit up in realization.
“Wait–that’s it! If you marry Serena, you’ll survive! Today was supposed to be Adrian and Lydia’s wedding, but why not make it a double ceremony? A celebration for both couples! A true double blessing for the Miller family!”

“Ridiculous! You can’t even bother to greet your own uncle? Show some respect–when I’m
talking, you listen!”
“If it weren’t for your uncle, the Miller family would be nothing. You’d never be sitting in that big
office at the top of Miller Tower.”
His eyes
drifted to the unconscious guards on the floor, fury rising.
“Well? What are you waiting for? Apologize to your uncle!”
Vivian looked conflicted. On one hand, she still wanted me to remain as Adrian’s backup bride–a
plan B to ensure nothing went wrong.
But on the other, she couldn’t bring herself to defy her husband.
Adrian’s jaw clenched. He spoke stiffly, unwillingly. “Uncle Rowan… I’m sorry.”
Just then, the emcee’s voice boomed through the speakers, “Ten minutes to the ceremony. Would
the brides and grooms please proceed to the staging area?”
I glanced at the clock. It was exactly ten minutes to noon.
Noon–the birth hour of both Rowan and Adrian..
Sebastian seemed to realize it at the same time. His voice left no room for argument.
“We’re running out of time. Rowan, it’s settled. Get ready–both of you!”
A pair of attendants led Lydia and me to the dressing room.
Lydia snatched a bottle of foundation off the vanity and hurled it at me, fury pouring from her voice.
“Serena, how dare you show up here?! I underestimated you–you even managed to dig up some long–lost uncle! Do you think that’s going to win Adrian back? You’re delusional! He’ll only ever
love me!”
I turned slightly, dodging the flying bottle. I didn’t look at her once.
“I’m not marrying him. And Lydia–you’ll pay for everything you’ve done.”
As the wedding music began to play, the two of us walked onto the stage.

Rowan stood at the end of the aisle, his gaze locked onto mine. His fingers trembled slightly.
I took a step forward–but my dress was suddenly yanked back. Adrian had stepped on my train. He leaned in close, voice low and cold in my ear.
“Serena, you’re really pushing your luck. Walk away right now, and I’ll forget this ever happened. You can still go back to how things were. Stay by my side. Quiet. Obedient.”
I turned to him with a smile full of mockery and yanked the dress free.
“Still haven’t learned manners? Better start practicing. From now on, you’ll be calling me Aunt
Serena.”
Adrian’s face turned the color of spoiled meat, his eyes darkening with rage.
Applause thundered through the hall as the ceremony continued.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
I looked up at the clock–one minute to noon.
Rowan’s warm palm gently brushed my cheek, sensing my hesitation.
He didn’t push.
“If you’re not ready, it’s okay,” he whispered.
Before he could finish, I rose on tiptoe and kissed him.
Our hearts pressed together, beating in perfect unison.
A single tear slipped down and landed softly on the floor.
This time, I had finally protected someone who truly loved me.

“Bang!” Two heavy thuds hit the ground. Vivian rushed to the front, panic in her voice.
“Adrian! What’s happening?!”
