“What did you say?” Eric grabbed my wrist and pulled me up, his eyes locked on Lorne with a murderous glare. “You seduced her, didn’t you?!”
Lorne smiled helplessly. “If that’s what you want to think, then sure.”
Eric punched him.

“Fuck, you hit so hard!” Lorne cursed. Tied
up,
he could only take punch after punch.
Finally, Lorne was barely conscious, his face
a
mask of despair. “I’m going to tell… I’m going to tell Uncle…”
After he was done, Eric called his assistant and told him to call an ambulance..
I watched, a cold observer.
The room was clean again. It was just Eric and me.
I finally looked at him. “I don’t know if you don’t understand English. I’m not playing hard to get. I’m not trying to make you jealous. I said I liked someone else because I wanted you to give up. I don’t like you anymore. I don’t want to be entangled with you anymore. Do you understand?”
He was stunned.
I pointed to where Lorne had been lying, the anger and disappointment that had been simmering inside me finally exploding. “You had him drug me so you could play the hero. Eric, don’t you think you’re despicable? I’m disgusted that I ever liked you!”
My voice was so high that I started to gag. He tried to help me, but I stumbled back.
“I don’t like you anymore,” I said, my voice dripping with scorn. “Stop deceiving yourself. If we’re talking about feelings, all I have left for you is hatred and disgust.”
“Are you serious?” Eric’s eyelashes trembled. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you would be so against it. I won’t… in the future…”
I laughed, exasperated. Did he think I was only angry because he had Lorne lie to me and drug me?
I threw the photos Song Ling had sent me this morning in his face. “Eric, there is no future for us.”
He stood there, picking up a photo, his voice hoarse. “This was all an act. I just wanted to make you jealous.”
Eric’s eyes filled with horror. “I’ll make Song Ling pay.”
I scoffed. “What you do has nothing to do with me. Just stop bothering me.”
He wanted to explain, but it felt as if a giant rock was crushing his chest.
Chapter 2
“You… you fell for Lorne?” he asked, his voice low.
“Neither of you is worthy of my affection!” I shouted. “Stop torturing me! Every second you’re near me, I feel sick.”
He tried to come closer. I didn’t hesitate to smash a glass and hold a shard towards him.
He kept walking, letting the shard cut into his flesh, blood streaming down his arm, his fingertips still reaching for my face.
“What do I have to do,” he whispered, “for you to forgive me?”
“Disappear completely. Stop bothering me.” I turned my head away.
He fell silent. The smell of blood filled the room. I watched the blood drip onto the floor.
“If you die here, I’ll have to deal with your body. It’s too much trouble,” I said flatly.

“I was wrong. I just… I just wanted you to care about me,” Eric said, his gaze downcast, his lips pale. “No one ever taught me how to
love someone.”
didn’t want to argue with him.
He pursed his lips. “I’ll do everything I can to make it up to you.”
With that, he turned away, his back looking thin and lonely.
“Eric,” I said.
He turned back, his eyes full of hope.
“Clean up the blood you spilled. Your mistake shouldn’t be a problem for the hotel staff, right?”
The light in his eyes flickered, then dimmed.
He took a few tissues from the table, wet them, and knelt to wipe the floor.
I glanced at him, then went to the other table and opened my laptop to work. “Close the door on your way out.”
Eric whispered a soft “okay.”
I only looked up when I heard the door close.
The room was empty and clean, the floor spotless.
