That night
Chapter 2
09:02
That night, Blake went to find Hannah. The group
chat lit up. It was Hannah, posting a picture of them
in bed together. The group exploded.
Blake used her phone to send a voice message, tagg- ing me. [【Zoe, take a good look. This is what a real
scumbag looks like. You didn’t appreciate a good
man like me. Let’s see what kind of man you can find
after you leave me!)
I didn’t say a word. I didn’t leave the group. No one
else dared to speak.
The next morning, Blake and I got our divorce. Hann- ah came with him. She was all dressed up for the occasion. A black bandage dress, black fishnet stock- ings, and red high heels. The whole nightclub unifo- rm. Some people just can’t hide what they are.
“Blake,” I said, “you really must have been desperate. Since you’re already here, why not just take Hannah down the hall and make it official?”
Hannah’s eyes lit up. She looked at Blake expectant-
- ly.
But he acted as if he hadn’t heard me, striding off to
his car alone.
Hannah quickly recovered. “Oh, Mr. Thorne and I have just started. It’s too soon to get married. But it’s only a matter of time. Besides, all you ever did was hou- sework. Anyone can do that. It’s not that hard. I’ll be the lady of the house soon enough. By the way,” she added, a malicious glint in her eye, “I’m the one who convinced him to divorce you. Sorry about that, Zoe.”
I just laughed. “You give yourself way too much cred- it. Why don’t you wait until you’re actually married
