Chapter 10 A Life Without Him
It was almost 7:00 p.m. when Fabian and Giselle arrived home, and the courthouse had long since closed.
Giselle was about to ask Fabian when they’d go to the courthouse, but she didn’t because pressing him too hard might irritate him.
Instead of sending her back to Brocade Villa, Fabian took her back to the villa they had lived in before.
She said, “Maybe I should go back to Brocade Villa. After the divorce is finalized, I’ll move back in with my parents.” She didn’t want to see Tatiana. It would only upset her.
However, Fabian simply turned around and glanced at her without saying anything.
Entering the villa, Giselle didn’t see Tatiana or anything related to her. Even her slippers had already been thrown away by Adeline.
“You’re back, Mrs. Mercado. Have you eaten? Shall I cook something for you?” Adeline was always respectful to her.
“Thanks, Adeline. I’ve already eaten.”
Pregnant women got tired easily. Giselle sat on the couch for a while. feeling a bit drowsy. Today, she had even forgotten to take the folic acid Jarrett had prescribed her.
“Mrs. Mercado, Ms. Wagner has moved out already, and I’ve thrown away everything she used and cleaned up the entire place.” Adeline
whispered to Giselle after Fabian went upstairs.
“Adeline, Fabian and Tatiana will be together sooner or later.”
“Mrs. Mercado, I beg to differ. I don’t think Mr. Mercado loves her at all. In fact, he ordered me to throw away her things,” Adeline said..
“Really?” Giselle felt slightly warm at Adeline’s words.
Since Fabian was working in the study, Giselle took a shower. As she walked out of the bathroom, he came to her with a document in his
hand.
“This is the divorce agreement. See if you want to change any terms.”
Her eyes dimmed at once as she thought. “This is why he took me here.
“It makes sense. After all, he has so many assets. Of course, he should divide them properly.”
Her vision blurred as she clutched the agreement, and she couldn’t make out any words at all. Everything was so hazy.
She directly signed it, wanting it out of her sight as quickly as possible.
“Let’s go to the courthouse tomorrow morning.” She lifted her head and forced a smile, though it was filled with sadness.
Fabian said. “Gigi. I’ll be on another business trip tomorrow. Maybe it’ll be even longer this time. Are you that eager to finalize the divorce?”
That was right. She’d go abroad soon and wanted to get the paperwork done before that, or the divorce would be dragged out again, which was something she didn’t want. They were going to divorce anyway.
“I’ve already signed the papers, which means we’re practically divorced, Mr. Mercado. I’ll move back to my parents‘ tonight.”
“OK. I’ll give you a ride.” he said.
She thought. “Dad and Mom have no clue about the divorce, and I haven’t figured out how to tell them. Since I’ll be studying abroad soon, maybe I’ll just find a way to soften the blow later.
“My poor baby…”
On the way, neither of them said anything. Just then, Fabian’s phone rang again, and it was still Tatiana. He rejected her call directly.
In the next second, she called again.
Giselle said, “You can drop me off here. It’s close enough to my parents‘ home. Thanks for the ride.” The divorce already broke her heart, and she had no interest in hearing them flirt.
Fabian didn’t say anything. nor did he stop the car. He dropped her off at her parents‘ doorstep.
“Do you want me to walk you in, Gigi?”
“No. Goodbye.” She walked straight in without looking back.
Her ridiculous marriage was already part of her past, and she should get used to a new life without him.
