Chapter 4 He’s So Gentle
“How’s Giselle doing?” Fabian turned to ask Jarrett.
“She’s weak. After taking her back, take good care of her. Some nutritious soup would be great, but no fish soup,” Jarrett said.
“Why?” Fabian was puzzled. Fish soup was Giselle’s favorite.
“Are you questioning me, a doctor? Just do as I say,” Jarrett said bluntly.
Fabian was rendered speechless.
They had been friends since childhood, and Jarrett was the only one who dared to talk back to Fabian without pissing Fabian off.
The weather in September was quite chilly. Fabian took off his suit jacket and draped it over Giselle’s shoulders.
His suit jacket was so warm, enveloped by his unique scent. Giselle had been protected by him for two years, and she found it quite hard to accept the fact that they’d soon break up.
“You’re shivering. Are you cold?” Fabian pulled her into his embrace.
“Mr. Mercado, let’s part ways here.” She took a deep breath and gave him back his jacket.
Since they were destined to be strangers, she might as well get it over with.
Fabian insisted, “Keep it on. I don’t wanna see you catch a cold. Let’s
go home, OK? I’ll have Adeline fix you some soup later.”
“That’s not necessary. I’ll hail a cab back to my parents.”
“But I’ll be so worried if you leave like this,” he insisted.
She said coldly, “Why? They won’t be mad at me just because I’m getting a divorce. My stuff is still at your place, right? Please have Maurice take them back to my parents‘ place. Thank you.”
Maurice Wells was the Mercado family’s driver. At her words, Fabian sighed, “Gigi, come on. I know you don’t mean it. Technically, we’re still married, and I’m obliged to take care of you. You can move back with your parents after the divorce is finalized.”
Giselle didn’t say anything anymore. She felt unwell right now and just wanted to lie down.
Fabian didn’t drive fast, but the second she got out of the car, she started to puke next to the flowerbed.
She had already thrown up everything she had eaten yesterday. Since she hadn’t eaten anything today, all that came up was stomach acid, mixed with a faint trace of blood..
“Gigi, you gotta take care of yourself after the divorce. You know how weak your stomach is. Don’t skip meals, OK?” Fabian handed her a bottle of water and patted her back gently after she rinsed her mouth.
All of a sudden, she wanted to cry. He was so considerate and gentle- how could she ever bring herself to hate him?
“Fabian, we’re getting a divorce. You should keep your distance from me. I don’t want Tatiana to get any wrong ideas.”

“OK.” Fabian nodded.
They went into the living room one after another.
Upon seeing Fabian, Tatiana walked up to him with a warm smile.
“Fabian, you’re back.”
Fabian immediately supported her. “Your legs have just started recovering. Don’t walk around, OK? Let me help you sit on the couch.”
“I’m fine, Fabian. You’re always fussy when it’s related to me,” Tatiana. smiled sweetly.
Looking at them, Giselle stood in place, not sure whether she should go inside or not. Meanwhile, her stomach started to act up again.
“Mrs. Mercado, you’re back. I’ll help you upstairs to rest.” Adeline came over to support her.
“Thank you, Adeline,” she smiled.
Adeline helped her up, comforting her while complaining about Tatiana.
“Ms. Wagner is so shameless. Mrs. Mercado, Mr. Mercado and you are so in love. Isn’t she ashamed of herself, being a homewrecker?”

“Adeline, Fabian and I are getting a divorce sooner or later. Don’t this anymore. Tatiana will be the hostess in the future.” Giselle sighed slightly.
Adeline immediately spat and said angrily, “Hostess? No way. To me, you’ll always be the only hostess here, Mrs. Mercado. If you leave, I’ll quit right away.”

Over the past two years. Giselle had been nice to the servants here, so they were all loyal to her.
“Adeline, I’m a bit tired and want to get some rest. You may go down now.”
“Alright. I’ll go fix you something nutritious.”
