Chapter 6 Tatiana’s Birthday
Fabian said to Braxton Cowan, his assistant, “Braxton, have Timothy draft a divorce agreement these days.”
Timothy Carney was the lawyer who handled the divorce. “Alright, Mr. Mercado. Oh, in case you’ve forgotten, the birthday gift you prepared for Mrs. Mercado yesterday is still in the car,” Braxton said respectfully.
“Throw it away. She no longer needs it.‘
Belated gifts were meaningless.
Braxton fell silent.
It was such a valuable gift. How could he toss it away just like that?
In the dead of the night, Giselle lay in bed but couldn’t sleep.
“Baby, what should I do?” Tears welled up in her eyes again.
Pregnant women tended to be emotional, not to mention that she and Fabian were about to divorce. She was so heartbroken that she could barely breathe.
Just then, her phone dinged. It was a WhatsApp message.
“Giselle, have you finished the paperwork to go abroad?” Damion texted.
Damion Bradley was her childhood sweetheart and college classmate, and they had always been close. She figured that if she hadn’t married
She replied, “I’m still handling it.”
She had excellent academic performance and was one of the students the school was sending abroad to study. At first, she had wanted to give the spot up because she couldn’t bear to live apart from Fabian, but now, it seemed like a perfect chance.

Fabian came back a week later, and the day happened to be Tatiana’s birthday.
Tatiana updated her Instagram and especially reminded Giselle to check it.
The photo captured the moment when Fabian put a crown over her head gently while gazing at her affectionately.
Giselle thought, “Till now, Fabian still doesn’t remember my birthday, but he especially came back from abroad to celebrate Tatiana’s birthday. Obviously, in his eyes, I’m nothing compared to her.”
She smiled bitterly, thinking that it was time to finalize the divorce since Fabian was back.
Just then, Tatiana texted her, “Giselle, Fabian rushed back today just to celebrate my birthday with me. Wanna know what I wished for?”
She replied, “Birthday wishes are meant to be kept as secrets.”
She knew exactly what Tatiana had wished for, but she didn’t want to hear Tatiana say it loudly because it’d hurt her deeply again. Besides, Tatiana’s wish would come true for sure.
After a while, she texted Fabian, “Mr. Mercado, let’s go to the courthouse tomorrow to finalize the divorce.”
Fabian didn’t reply.
He arrived at Brocade Villa about half an hour later.
“Mr. Mercado? Why are you here?”
Giselle was very surprised. Shouldn’t he be with Tatiana right now?
She realized Fabian had been drinking because she could smell faint alcohol on his breath.
“Gigi, draw me a bath. I wanna take a bath.” Fabian frowned, seeming uncomfortable.
Should he really be here now that they were getting a divorce?
“Can’t the servants do this?” Though saying so, she still drew him a bath and helped him take off his clothes because she was used to doing all these.
“I can’t sleep well without you,” Fabian said.
She felt momentarily speechless.
It had never occurred to her that she could be this soothing.
While taking his clothes off, Fabian said, “Grandma said she missed you. Let’s go back and pay her a visit tomorrow.”
“Shall we tell her about the divorce?” Giselle asked.
He was stunned for a second before saying, “Maybe later. She’s in poor
health, and I’m worried she might not take this well.”
She nodded. “Alright. Go and take your bath. I’ll go make the bed.”
Since they were getting divorced, of course, they shouldn’t be sharing a bed anymore.
