Chapter 12
He quickly wrote down a string of words.
“At first it was inconvenient, but gradually I got used to it.”
“I didn’t speak is actually a psychological issue. Five years ago, on my mother’s birthday, I drove her to the seaside to celebrate.”
‘At that time, I had just finished saying happy birthday to her, and the pink fireworks that were ready to go off happened to burst in the air. The enemy took advantage of the sound of fireworks to shoot.”
“The bullet was clearly aimed at me, but I didn’t hear it. My mother, in order to save me, pushed me away and was shot dead.”
“The doctor said that I subconsciously believed that my mother died because I said, “happy birthday” to her, so I instinctively closed myself off and stopped talking.”
Liora looked at the tall man in front of her, her heart aching faintly.
She had never heard of this before, only heard that Nathan’s father passed away early. The news of Nathan’s mother’s death was most likely suppressed by the Collen family.
She experienced the pain of losing her mother at a very young age, so she naturally understood how much Nathan was suffering.
“You don’t want to speak, then don’t speak. I can speak for you in the future, Liora said, and then she herself was stunned.”
Nathan glanced at her sideways.
Chapter 12
Under the sunlight, those amber eyes held a hint of an imperceptible
smile.
Liora looked a little uncomfortable and just wanted to escape: “I’ll go upstairs first.”
A hand suddenly grabbed her, Liora turned around and saw Nathan. writing, “Don’t worry, since you are going to marry me.
“I will be there for you in the future, no one can bully you.”
Listening to these familiar words, Liora was momentarily taken aback.
Three years ago, when Greg confessed to her under the cherry blossom tree, he also said similar words.
At that time, she, who was inexperienced in the ways of the world, gave Greg her full trust.
Until seven days ago, the dream was completely shattered.
Now faced with the same words, Liora instinctively felt some resistance and fear.
She chatted a few more sentences and then found an excuse to go upstairs.
Nathan watched as Liora hurriedly walked away, a coldness creeping into his dark eyes.
He picked up his phone and sent a message to his assistant: “Find out how Liora got her injuries. Also, investigate what she has been through recently at Davis.”
Two days later, Liora went downstairs to have breakfast.
Chapter 12
In the living room, Sylvia, who had been waiting for a long time, pulled Liora to sit down and asked, “Liora, how have these two days been with. Nathan? Are you satisfied with Nathan?”
Liora didn’t expect Sylvia to be so straightforward. After a few seconds of consideration, she replied, “Nathan is very considerate. He is a warm- hearted guy, usually very accommodating to me. These past few days with him have been better than I expected.”
Sylvia was taken aback. It was the first time in so many years that she had heard someone in the younger generation describe Nathan as a warm- hearted man.
Sylvia looked at Liora, not hiding the fondness in her eyes.
“Just get along. Grandma knows you just came from Davis, so you must have had a hard time adjusting to life here in New York. You were probably worried that we wouldn’t treat you well.”
“However, I can tell you now that my grandmother liked you from the first time she saw you.”
“As for the other members of the Collen family, you don’t need to worry about them. With Grandma
backing you up, even if they don’t like it, they have to listen to me. But from what I can tell, with the personalities of Uncle Nathan and Auntie, they should like you just like me.”
“Yesterday when they came over for dinner, I also made it clear that you are the daughter–in–law I have recognized.”
With that, Sylvia took out an emperor jade bracelet of excellent quality and handed it to Liora. “This was originally meant to be given to you by Nathan’s mother. Five years ago, Nathan’s mother passed away, so now I am passing this jade bracelet to you on behalf of Nathan’s mother.”
Chapter 12
“Also, I bought the house where your parents used to live yesterday. If you ever want to go back, you can go back anytime.”
Liora looked at Sylvia’s kind face and felt her nose start to tingle.
Little did she expect that upon arriving at the Collen family, the people there would make her feel the long–lost warmth.
Since her parents passed away, there hasn’t been any elder who cared for her so much.
Seven days ago, she even thought that this was how her life would be, without family or love.
With these thoughts in mind, Liora couldn’t help but blush.
Sylvia saw that she was about to cry, so she hugged her tenderly and said, “Don’t cry, the past is all behind us. Don’t all you kids like to go shopping and buy things? Today, grandma will accompany you and buy you some jewelry and a handbag.”
So, Sylvia took Nathan and spent the day outside with Liora.
In the evening, Sylvia took the car back to her old house.
As soon as she left, Nathan lowered his head and wrote a line on the tablet: “After spending these days together, you shouldn’t have any resistance towards me, right?”
Liora was taken aback, not sure what he wanted to say, so she just nodded.
Nathan lowered his head and continued writing the next line: “Shall we go get our marriage certificate tomorrow?”
