Chapter 17
“Seven years ago, out of guilt, I secretly transferred all my shares to Angela. Now, all those shares have been acquired by the Xandros family. Grandpa, back then you forced me to marry Valerie, demanding all the Hernandez Group shares in my hands. And now, the Hernandez Group is utterly destroyed.”
Stanley spat out a mouthful of blood.
“What did you say!!”

Braeden’s smile grew even wider: “Angela has been the one controlling the Hernandez Group’s shares all these years. Grandpa, you personally sold the Hernandez Group.”
Stanley flew into a rage: “You bastard! Get those shares back, that’s my life’s work! You actually gave them all to that old Xandros‘ descendant. Braeden, I should’ve killed Angela along with her father back then. Keeping her around has brought disaster to the Hernandez family!”
Braeden could feel Stanley’s hatred toward the Taylor family, toward Angela.
All these years, he had been blind to the truth, thinking the old man disliked Angela simply because she was spoiled.
But the real reason was the old grudges between their elders.
Braeden said, “Grandpa, stay in prison and atone for my parents‘ deaths.”
The old man laughed heartily: “Bray, that old Taylor has been in the nursing home all these years. When he died, it was because I had

someone do it.”
Braeden’s body stiffened, and pain filled his eyes.

Far away overseas, Angela received a call from the police back home.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
“My grandfather didn’t die of illness, but was murdered?”
Sir Taylor’s health was already in its final stage at that time, but according to the doctor’s diagnosis, he could have lived another two years. Stanley has confessed to killing Sir Taylor, so the Taylor family needs someone to come back and handle this matter.”
Angela had never imagined that her grandfather would be murdered.
Angela’s parents saw the news.
“Angela, your mother and I will go handle it. You don’t need to come back.”
Angela shook her head, her tearful eyes looking at her parents.
“Grandpa has taken care of me all these years. I have to go back too.”
Her grandfather had never wronged the Hernandez, family, yet the Taylor family had suffered so much at their hands.
She returned to Los Angeles two days later.
Angela didn’t go to the police station with her parents.
Instead, she went straight to the cemetery.

“Grandpa, I regret it. I regret being with Braeden, regret loving him. If I could do it all over again, I would never let myself have even the slightest chance of meeting him.”
Braeden, hiding under a distant tree, heard these words and felt a pain that pierced his heart.
He was certain that after what happened to the Taylor family’s old man, the whole family would return, and Angela would come to the cemetery.
He had waited here for three days before finally seeing her.
Braeden gazed at Angela with longing in his eyes.
Although she had only been gone for a month, it felt to him like a lifetime
apart.
In this month, Angela had lost a lot of weight. Her face was pale, and even though the weather wasn’t that cold, she was wrapped in a down jacket.
Braeden’s mind was filled with Ethan’s words.
“Braeden, Angela’s health has suffered greatly. She’s in poor condition, so please, let her live well.”
Braeden felt a bitter taste rise in his throat:
He coughed audibly.
Angela, not far away, turned her head.
They looked at each other from a distance.
Braeden ran toward Angela and pulled her tightly into his arms.

His arms held her so tightly, as if he wanted to merge Angela into his very
bones.
“Angela, I’m sorry, about our child…”
Angela interrupted Braeden directly.
Her tone was calm: “My mother and the others are still waiting for me at the police station, Braeden. Let me go.”
All the words Braeden wanted to say to Angela were swallowed back down.
“My grandfather killed your grandfather. He will be punished by the law.”
A sudden sense of helplessness washed over Braeden, and tears instantly welled up in his eyes.
“If you want me to be punished by the law, I will turn myself in too.”
Angela simply replied, “Braeden, that’s not necessary.”
Angela pushed Braeden away and walked toward the black sedan parked by the roadside.
She got into the car and left the cemetery.
Her assistant spoke to her.
“Ms. Taylor, there’s been a car following us the whole time.”
Angela didn’t even need to look back to know who it was.
She said calmly, “Ignore it. Just drive.”
On the way back to the city, Angela saw that all the billboards and

‘Angela, I’m sorry. I know I was wrong. Please forgive me.”
“Angela, I love you.”
“Angela, let’s start over.”
