It was no wonder Mr. Nero treated her differently. The previous few candidates hadn’t even shown basic care or consideration for Mr. Nero. They’d been visibly afraid even just speaking to him. Who could possibly find that appealing? When Raine walked in, she saw Claudia leaning close to Nero, speaking to him in a voice softer than usual. The distance between them was intimate, yet Nero didn’t show the slightest irritation–if anything, there was a faint hint of indulgence.
Raine felt jealousy surge, mixed with panic.

Clenching her teeth, Raine quietly slipped away to her room.
Claudia had no idea that her casual glance had stirred so much anxiety in Raine’s mind.
In truth, Claudia hadn’t mentioned Raine at all. She was talking to Nero about something entirely different–the banquet hosted this week by the White family in Hudsonville.
The White family was divided between the main branch in the Capital and a secondary branch in Hudsonville.
Nero was the sole heir of the main branch, while Chase’s family belonged to one of the many smaller branches based in Hudsonville.

Earlier that morning, Yvonne had deliberately messaged Claudia, insisting she attend–who knew what kind of scheme she had planned?
Unexpectedly, Nero had also brought up the banquet himself.

The day of the banquet arrived.
As soon as Claudia stepped out of the car, she separated from Nero.

“Why would I need to find him?” Claudia raised an elegant eyebrow, looking even more confused than Yvonne.

“Claudia, I know you didn’t dare leave Blossom Park earlier because you were afraid of Mr. Nero’s anger.”
“But things are different now. You don’t have to worry anymore! Just sincerely apologize to Mr. Chase and reconcile with him Then you can explain to Mr. Nero that the two of you were already together beforehand. He wouldn’t possibly take his nephew’s woman, would he?”

Claudia laughed softly, “I betrayed him? I was never even with him. How exactly is that betrayal?”
“B–but the two of you agreed to run away together! You let him wait all that time, then quietly married into Blossom Park. Shouldn’t you apologize for that?”
Claudia smiled again, nodding calmly. “You’re right–I should apologize
Just as Yvonne began to relax, Claudia continued-
