Chapter 5 Is Mr Nero Really That Easy to Handle?
Claudia reached the door just as Simon was being kicked out, along with a maid holding a medical kit.
The maid looked pale, clearly too scared to go back in.
Claudia sighed and extended her hand. “Give it to me.”
Simon blinked, surprised. “Ma’am. Mr. Nero’s in a bad mood right now.”
“I know,” she replied gently.
That was exactly why she had to go in–because she was worried about him.
After a brief pause, Simon considered Mr. Nero’s unusual attitude toward her and told the maid, “Give it to her.”
Claudia opened the door and stepped into the dark room.
-Get out!” Nero’s voice was sharp, brimming with rage and menace.

By the faint light from the window, she saw him sitting in his wheelchair, his back turned, his entire figure radiating exhaustion and despair–like a man at death’s door.
He was only twenty–seven.
Had he always lived like this in her past life too? Drowning in hopelessness every single day?
And she–she had only ever tried to run from him, never caring, not even once..
Quietly, she walked toward him.
The sound of her steps made Nero snap. He lashed out with lightning speed..
“I said
get out–1”
His grip on her wrist was strong enough to snap bone. Claudia gasped in pain.
Realizing it was her, he instantly released her.
“Leave,” he ordered, his voice harsh.
In the dim light, his sharp jawline and striking profile were visible, but his expression was hidden in shadow–only the violent. air around him could be fell
“Simon said you werenk doing well..” Claudia softened her voice. “I got worried.”
“Worried?” he repeated, voice low and strange, the sharp edge in his tone fading. She felt his gaze settle on her.
“Yes” She crouched beside him, placing one hand on the armrest, the other fumbling in the dark to find his hand.
Her fingers brushed his thigh–his muscles tensed instantly. Then, her hand was caught.
This time, he held her tightly, but not enough to hurt.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice strained.
Claudia’s heart fluttered guiltily. She realized she’d basically just groped him. But she feigned innocence, “I was looking for your hand. I can’t see.”
“Why?” he asked slowly
She gently turned his wrist and secretly took his pulse while replying, “You’re in a bad mood, right? I thought I’d comfort
you.

Nero fell silent.
Strangely, he didn’t pull his hand away.
After a moment, Claudia had her diagnosis–and her heart twisted between relief and worry.
The good news: she could treat his condition. As long as she was here, he wouldn’t die before thirty like all those so–called top doctors had predicted.
The bad news: the key ingredient for his treatment wouldn’t exist until months later, when a specific herb her mother had studied would mature at her grandfather’s botanical institute.
Which wasn’t in her control right now.
Thinking of her grandfather’s family, her expression grew complicated.
Nero? Ma’am?”
Simon’s tentative voice outside the door snapped her out of her thoughts.
“What is it?” she called back.
Simon had been ready to barge in. Hearing her loud and steady reply, his hand dropped from the doorknob. His face twitched with confusion and disbelief.
…Nothing happened?
And Mr. Nero wasn’t mad?
That was rare.
Back in the room
Claudia gently let go of his hand. “Can I turn the light on to treat your wounds?
After a moment’s pause, Nero said, “No need.”
Claudia frowned. “But your injuries-
“Let Simon do it.”
She broke into a grin. Okay!”
As long as he was willing to be treated, she was happy, What she feared most was that he’d lash out and refuse anyone’s help.
She rushed to open the door, “Simon, come in and take care of Mr. Nero’s bandages!”
“…What?” Sirpon blinked.
“Hurry up,” Nero’s cold voice snapped.
Simon rushed in, brushing past Claudia, his expression still stunned.
What the hell just happened? Since when was Mr. Nero this easy to soothe?
This new wife might really be something.
Claudia noticed Simon’s complicated look but didn’t think much of it. She returned to her room in a good mood.
She finally turned her phone back on–it had been off all day.
Chase’s call came in immediately.
Her eyes turned icy. She declined and blocked him without hesitation

Another call came. This time, it was her father, Henry.
“Why’s your phone been off all day?” he snapped as soon as the call connected.
Claudia lowered her lashes. “Battery died.”
“You’re at Blossom Park, right?”
“I am. Why?”

“You better behave. Now that you’ve married Mr. Nero, don’t even think about pulling any stunts. Cut off all the unnecessary people.”
Her voice cooled, “What stunts?”
“Still denying it? If Yvonne hadn’t accidentally let it slip, I wouldn’t have even known you were planning to elope! Thank god she talked you out of it–otherwise, you’d have ruined our entire family!”
“You think Mr. Nero’s someone you can afford to offend?! You’d be the death of all of us!”
Joune?
A chill slid through Claudia’s eyes.
“Let it slip“? “Talked her out of it? What a joke.
Henry wasn’t just calling to scold her, of course. He got to the real point quickly. “Anyway, since you’ve married Mr. Nero, talk to him about investing in our company.”
Claudia rolled her eyes. “Mr. Nero’s not that easy to persuade. We’ll see.
She hung up, uninterested in continuing the conversation.
Back at the Cloud residence, Henry slammed the phone down. “Unbelievable. Married one day and she’s already getting defiant!”
His wife, Summer, quickly comforted him. “I’ll have Claudia come back tomorrow. I’ll talk to her myself–she’s always listened to me.”
Henry’s expression eased. He patted her hand, grateful. “You’ve done so much for this family. Treated her like your own daughter. No wonder she listens to you.”
“That’s what I should do,” Summer said with a gentle smile. “Faye and I were close. I owe it to her to look after her child.”
Back at Blossom Park-
After hanging up, Claudia remembered she hadn’t warned Nero about her father’s intentions.
She headed to his room again.
Simon wasn’t there, and the door wasn’t fully closed. She peeked in–he wasn’t in the bedroom. The bathroom light was on
He must be showering.
She hesitated, just about to leave, when suddenly
Bang!
Something slammed inside the bathroom.
Her face paled. She didn’t stop to think–she rushed in and shoved the door open. “Are you-”
One second passed.
Without hesitation, she slammed the door shut again
