Her vicious, hateful gaze snapped to me.
Mockery flashed in the eyes of the watching crowd as they leaned in and started whispering.
“Don Holloway is surely… loyal.”
“One hand on the ex–wife and another on the pregnant sworn sister’s belly, carrying his child.”
“Enough, Natalia!” Rafael shoved her away with uncontrolled force, and she crashed straight into the champagne tower with a
shriek.
The towering champagne glasses exploded in a hail of shards. Natalia screamed as her hands reached out to instinctively protect her belly while turning her body against the rain of fragments and liquor.
“Ah! My baby!” she screeched, squirming. As she clutched her belly with one hand, blood spread beneath her.
“Natalia…” Rafael trembled as he stepped forward to help her up.
“Don’t touch me!” she spat the words with her face twisted in pain, looking nothing like the soft, fragile lady she used to be. ” It’s all your fault, Rafael! Your child and I are dying!”
He froze as colors drained from his face.
Standing aside, I frowned. Though I loathed them, they were in my territory, and I had no choice but to murmur to the guards,
“Get the doctor”
Moments later, the Rossetti family’s private doctor arrived, but it was too late. He came to me, shaking his head, and whispered, “She’s lost the child. The hemorrhage damaged her uterus, and she’ll likely never carry another.”
In a daze, Rafael caught the last words, and something inside him collapsed.
Then, Luca stepped forward and announced in a cold voice, “The Rossetti family does not tolerate pests”
Pointing a finger at the pale Rafael and the unconscious Natalia on the ground, his voice was firm and decisive as he
instructed, “Seize them and throw them out.”
The guards moved forward at once to lift the dispirited Rafael and unconscious Natalia before hauling them out.
I calmly watched them go before turning back to my guests. “Apologies for the scene. Let the party continue ”
As I left, whispers lingered among the guests.
“The Holloways are doomed for real…”
“Donna Rossetti is so gracious to call her doctor…”
“I heard it was a boy, the last heir of the Holloways…”
“Everything’s gone now…”
