Chapter 10
By evening when I still hadn’t moved, the Sullivan family was getting suspicious.
After checking, Dad called me directly while I was at the Gordons‘. “Who gave you permission to contact him! Don’t you know our relationship with the Gordon family!”
I was looking over contracts across from Gabriel Gordon, apologized, and went out to take the call privately. “Mr. Sullivan, get this straight–Shaw Corp is my company now. What right do you have to interfere with my partnerships? I’m your competitor, not your worker. I had no way to get home, so what was I supposed to do, actually walk back?”
Edward Sullivan panicked; without wasting time arguing with me, he immediately came to the Gordon house to pick me up.
The contract was interrupted, but Gabriel wasn’t annoyed, maintaining his surface calm. “Well then, Ms. Shaw, let’s talk next time.”
Edward gritted his teeth.
After that, he came to see me every day, either bringing gifts or making small talk about nothing important.
Chloe did the same.
knew they were terrified I’d go back to Gabriel, which inevitably meant they were neglecting Sophie, but compared to their previous doting, they still spent most of their time on her – though Sophie couldn’t handle even that.
One day she suddenly knelt in front of me in the hallway, clutching a stock transfer agreement tightly. “Sis, I’m transferring all my shares to you. Please give me back Mom and Dad!”
I’d just woken up, rubbing my messy hair, confused about what show she was putting on.
In the past, I might have taken what she offered.
But now I had more influential leverage than the Sullivan family. These shares weren’t necessary for me. “Keep them. I don’t want
them.”
I was about to leave when she suddenly grabbed my legs. “I’m begging you. Aren’t you doing all this because you resent me for stealing Mom, Dad, and brother’s love? But I’ve been with them for over twenty years. I can’t bear to lose them more than you can… I’ll give you all the shares, just please give them back to me, okay?”
I was stunned. “Sophie, how did you make it to 26?”
She froze.
I leaned down. “After everything I’ve done, you still think my goal is your family’s love? You’re naive, I’m not.”
I snatched the stock transfer agreement. “I’ll say it again–if you don’t really want to give it, don’t say it randomly, because if you dare say it, I really dare take it.”
I tore the agreement to pieces.
“Sis, don’t go!” She grabbed my legs. “Besides shares, I can give you my room, my clothes, my toys, everything. Just don’t…”
“Let go!”
I was already cranky from just waking up, and she kept clinging to me. I impatiently tried to pull my leg free.
The next second, the door opened and Samuel and my parents‘ voices rang out. “Megan Shaw! What are you doing!”
From this angle, it looked like I was about to kick her.
Sophie fell to the ground right on cue.

Chloe rushed to hold her while Samuel pieced together the torn papers and threw the pieces in my face. “Who the fuck do you think you are! Forcing Sophie to transfer shares and making her kneel to you! Are we being too nice to you!”
“Which eye saw me forcing her to transfer? You think I’m as twisted as you people, bullying her right where you’d walk in and see?”
“Someone as vicious as you, who knows what you’re thinking!”
Samuel and I got closer and closer. Sophie quickly got between us to break up the fight.
This scene made Preston, who’d just come to see Sophie, freeze. “What are you doing?”
We all looked at him.
Preston’s first instinct was to look at Sophie, who had red eyes and was biting her lip while shaking her head at him, as if she’d suffered some terrible injustice she couldn’t speak of.
He noticed the torn stock transfer agreement on the floor.
He hit me hard across the face. “Stealing her overseas division wasn’t enough? Now you’re forcing her to give up her shares too!”
I touched my burning cheek and stepped forward.
I hit him right back. “Are you fucking crazy!”
