Moreover, Cecilia had been secretly observing Camilla. Camilla was attractive, but she just didn’t look stylish. She didn’t wear beautiful earrings or large diamond rings, nor did she dress in designer clothes. She looked rather dowdy in comparison.
Cecilia’s classmates‘ mothers were all like Ophelia, beautiful and fashionable. Cecilia preferred that the other children think of Ophelia, who was stylish and attractive, as her mother.
Camilla, of course, had guessed Cecilia’s thoughts. Her eyes dimmed. behind her sunglasses, and Charles, as always, indulged Cecilia. “Alright, let Lucius accompany you. I’ll wait in the car and watch you walk into school.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” Cecilia smiled sweetly.
Camilla worriedly admonished, “Lucius, Cecilia, be careful on the way and watch out for traffic.”
Bang. Cecilia slammed the car door shut and walked away without looking back.
Lucius took a few steps, then looked back at the car. Camilla’s hand was still out the window, waving goodbye to them. He felt a pang of guilt. Although he knew Camilla couldn’t see, Lucius still waved back at her.
Camilla finally felt a glimmer of relief in her heart. At least Lucius wasn’t as averse to her as Cecilia was.
Charles, with one hand on the steering wheel, glanced at Camilla. “Camilla, I have a client coming to the company later, and I need to entertain them personally. I’ll drop you off at the intersection ahead and

have the driver pick you up to go back home.”
Camilla declined. “No, Charles. I want to go to the company with you.”
Charles was slightly taken aback, he hadn’t expected Camilla to be so eager to return to the company. “Are you sure?” he asked, frowning.
“Yes. Although I can’t see, I can catch up with the current research and development situation and project progress with my colleagues. It will also make it easier for me to reintegrate formally later,” she said.
Charles’s index finger lightly tapped the steering wheel as he seemed to ponder something. After a few seconds, he relented and agreed. “Alright.”
Camilla followed Charles back to Uniteon Group. Five years had passed, but the place still looked familiar to her.
As soon as Charles walked in, he drew everyone’s attention. Employees passing by greeted him, and Charles nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
Camilla walked beside Charles, one hand linked with his arm and the other holding her white cane, naturally drawing curious glances from many people.
Five years had passed, and the old employees had mostly forgotten about her, while the new ones wouldn’t know her at all. But Charles had no intention of introducing her.
“Hi, Mr. Hawthorne,” his assistant David quickly approached and greeted.
Seeing Camilla with Charles, David was extremely surprised, and his voice couldn’t hide his excitement. “Mr. Hawthorne, you’re awake.”
Camilla looked at the well–dressed young man in front of her and smiled slightly. “Long time no see, David.”
She remembered David. Six years ago, he had participated in the

interview for Uniteon Group, and Camilla had been one of the
interviewers. Camilla hadn’t expected that he would now be Charles’s
chief assistant.
Charles glanced at his vibrating phone and discreetly turned off the screen. “Camilla, the client has arrived, and I need to go ahead. Let David show you around the company. Call me if you need anything.”
Camilla replied considerately, “You go ahead and get to work. Don’t worry about me.”
Before leaving, Charles leaned in and gave Camilla a peck on the cheek, maintaining his image as a doting husband in front of others.
Camilla was thoroughly disgusted by his act but had to force a smile and play along.
However, Ophelia, hiding in the corner on the second floor, saw everything clearly and clenched the folder in her hand tightly.
After Charles left, David asked Camilla, “Mrs. Hawthorne, where would you like to go first?”
Camilla had a clear goal. “Take me to the R&D department.”
