Chapter 10
I don’t know why, but when Austin set off for Maggie’s apartment, he always felt his eyelids twitching. He drove all the way to her apartment, hurriedly entered, and only then realized that everything about falling was fake when he saw Maggie wearing only a thin nightgown.
He frowned deeply and was very displeased with this, “Have I spoiled you too much recently that you forgot your own identity? How long has it been since I last spent time with Alyssa just to be with you, and you dare to use the child’s matter to deceive me?”
As soon as they met, Maggie was scolded. Tears instantly filled her eyes, and she leaned softly towards Austin, pouting with a voice full of grievances, “I just miss you, baby also wants to see daddy. If you don’t come, he always makes trouble for me. I can’t help it…”
Seeing her like this, Austin’s anger extinguished instantly, and he let out a deep sigh.
He always couldn’t resist Maggie like this, after all, wasn’t it because he liked Maggie to act coquettishly towards him at the beginning that he maintained such a relationship with her?
Unlike Alyssa, she had been poor before, so she knew how to be the favorite canary of a wealthy young master, letting go, acting coquettish, being delicate and easy to push over, having the demeanor of a little girl, and being bold enough in that aspect. It is something that a woman like Alyssa, who would instinctively close off her inner self due to childhood trauma, could never do.
Seeing that he was no longer angry, she hung on his body, tiptoed and planted a sweet kiss on his face, with a shy smile on her face, “Austin, listen, without you, my heart feels so restless…”
Maggie made a move as if she was going to bury his head into her chest. In the past, he would definitely have obediently leaned in, but now he had already confirmed that she and the baby in her belly were fine. However, the inexplicable panic in his heart had never disappeared.
In an instant, he suddenly remembered Alyssa’s abnormality when he left.
She seemed to have been facing him with that calm and indifferent look for a long time, as if whatever he did was irrelevant to her.
Thinking of this, his panic grew even more, and with a little force in his hand, he pushed Maggie, who seemed boneless, onto the sofa. She had been pampered and cherished since she found out she was pregnant, and she was suddenly treated so violently. She hadn’t even reacted yet when the person in front of her straightened his suit and walked away a distance.
“Austin!”
Her cries were drowned in the darkness, he seemed not to hear, and when she hurried to catch up, she only heard him say, “Don’t make a fuss, I promised to spend time with Alyssa these days, be obedient.”
Austin didn’t hesitate at all, he got into the car directly, Maggie didn’t even have time to say a word of retention, and in her sight, there was only the taillights of his car leaving in the dust.
Thinking of Alyssa, the last person he mentioned, made him even more furious, unwilling to accept defeat, so he turned around and went back to the
room.
On the other side, Austin drove like crazy, cutting the half–hour journey to fifteen minutes. When he returned to the villa, the bedroom lights had already
been turned off.
“Alyssa, did you sleep?” he tentatively asked, but received no response. Turning on the light, he saw that the bed was empty, with only the bedside table still holding the anniversary gift Alyssa had just said she wanted to give him. After calling out a few more times with no answer, he couldn’t resist his curiosity and walked over to open the gift box.
The first thing that caught my eye was a paper document, on which a few words were faintly printed, but completely blocked by the photo on the document.
The back of the photos faced upwards, with each photo having a sentence written on it.
At that moment, he seemed to hear the thumping sound of his own heartbeat.
“Is that a photo of them? Or some other picture? And what about that document?”
With a full kiss in his heart, Austin took out the photos and documents, but his excited and joyful mood suddenly froze when he saw the words behind the photos.
“He massaged others‘ legs“, “He cooked porridge for others“, “He helped others peel shrimp“, “He went shopping at the mother and baby store with others“…
“I wonder if he ever thinks of our past memories when he does these things, if he ever remembers… the promises he made to me, saying he would give me a unique love, saying he would never let me down in this lifetime.”
I suppose, it was forgotten.”
