“Austin… L…”
Maggie opened her mouth and when she spoke again, there was uneasiness, guilt, and anxiety in her voice, “I don’t know what’s going on with these photos…”
She looked around nervously, avoiding eye contact with Austin. He was not blind and could clearly see it.
Moreover, he already had the answer in his heart before coming to find Maggie, so her denial fell on his ears as nothing but sophistry.
“Maggie, have I ever told you that I can give you anything you want, except for one bottom line, which is not to cause trouble in front of Alyssa.” He leaned back against the sofa chair, looking at her with narrowed eyes, revealing a dangerous meaning that made her extremely frightened. She dared not admit to her actions, but looking at his expression, she also knew that he had already made up his mind.
Her thoughts were spinning rapidly in her mind, and after a while, she finally made a decision. With a thud, she knelt down in front of Austin, tears instantly filling her eyes. “Austin, I was wrong. I just love you too much, that’s why I made a mistake. Can you forgive me this time? I promise I will be a sweetheart!”
As she spoke, Maggie’s eyes were already red with tears, looking pitiful and heart–wrenching. But at this moment, the man in front of her, upon hearing her definite answer, his eyes became even more cold and stern.
He bent down and raised his hand to pinch her chin, exerting a slight force, leaving a few red marks on her cheek, making her look even more pitiful.
“Give you another chance? Ha.”
He sneered, “If it weren’t for Maggie taking matters into her own hands and bringing it to Alyssa’s attention, how could Alyssa have quietly left again, even going so far as to erase her identity information to ensure I couldn’t find her?”
He gave Maggie a chance, but who will bring back his Alyssa?
Thinking of this, Austin’s mouth curved into a smile, and his gaze towards Maggie softened slightly. Just when she thought he was about to relent, he
suddenly let go of her and took out his phone to make a call.
“Help me make an appointment for a surgical abortion tomorrow morning, the sooner the better.”
The phone hung up, and his gaze turned back to Maggie. At this moment, when she heard the words “abortion surgery,” her eyes were filled with panic, shaking her head incessantly, “No, please, Austin, this is our child, you can’t be so heartless, please, I will really listen, don’t abort my baby!”
At this moment, her panic in her voice was no longer feigned. Seeing him getting up to leave, she quickly grabbed his thigh, kneeling on the ground and moving forward with Austin’s footsteps. However, he showed no mercy, prying her fingers apart one by one before turning around and leaving, leaving behind Maggie, who was crying uncontrollably behind him.
When the door of the apartment slammed shut, her face had already turned as pale as paper, with no trace of color left.
She sat on the floor of the living room like this, the cold air from the floor seeping into her bones, but unable to compete with the chill in her heart at the
moment.
The sky was getting light, and Maggie, who had not slept all night, had red and swollen eyes. She turned to look at the night outside the window, unconsciously placing her hand on her newly visible belly. She had found out she was pregnant half a month ago, and at that time she was a little nervous, not knowing if Austin would choose to keep the baby.
After all, it was common knowledge throughout Abragal that Austin loved Alyssa, even though at that time she had already been in an intimate relationship with him for some time, but he never once said he would give her a title.
But he said, “Give birth to it, that is his first child, he will make this child the legitimate eldest grandson of the Burton family.”
Even that night when she found out she was pregnant, they had already decided on names for their children, a boy named Kale Burton and a girl named
Ava Burton.
Maggie naively believed that when Austin said he would make their child the legitimate eldest grandson of the Burton family, it meant he had also fallen in love with her, giving her the capital to be willful.
So she began to greedily demand more, wanting more of his company, wanting more of his care, and wanting a status that could openly stand by his side, not as a secretary, but as his lover, his girlfriend, his wife.
Now Austin used reality to tell her that she was wrong, she was just a complete joke.
