“Ms. Campbell, your baby in the belly was already over seven months, expected to give birth in two months, but you are too thin, not showing much. Remember to eat more.”
The doctor held a stack of examination forms, frowned, and glanced at Abbie Campbell’s not–so–obvious lower abdomen, and also adjusted his glasses.
“Also, you have come for prenatal check–ups so many times, why has the child’s father never come?”
For such irresponsible fathers, doctors are accustomed to it.
Just as I was about to kindly offer a few words of advice, Abbie casually said, “He can’t come because the child is not his. Thank you, doctor, I will eat a little more.”
After saying that, she calmly left under the doctor’s astonished gaze.
The doctor, despite being knowledgeable and experienced, was still stunned, staring with wide eyes and unable to react for a while.
He didn’t come to his senses until the next patient came in.
After Abbie walked out of the door, she gently stroked her slightly protruding belly and then set a countdown on her phone.
In two months, this child could be born, and by then, she would be able to completely leave Vincent Smith!
Watching the time passing on her phone, she tightly held onto it as if she could gain some strength.
Just about to leave the hospital, suddenly heard the nurse whispering.
“Who is Ms. Jenson after all? Just a common cold and Mr. Smith ends up renting the entire floor for her, even sending the dean to take care of her.”
Upon hearing the familiar name, her heart skipped a beat, and the next moment, she saw two familiar figures at the corner.
Liana Jenson sat on the bench, her face slightly flushed, while Vincent crouched in front of her, his large palm enveloping her ankle, gently massaging it.
Those once cold eyes, now the tenderness inside is about to overflow.
He was taken aback and slowly stood up, only when Abbie approached and appeared in front of him.
When his gaze fell upon her, the tenderness in his expression diminished slightly as he explained softly, “Last night, Liana coughed a few times, and I was worried, so I brought her here to have a look. Just after seeing the doctor, she accidentally sprained her foot, and I was just massaging it for her.”
Upon hearing this sentence, Abbie touched her own belly and mocked herself in her heart.
Her baby in her belly was already seven months old, but he still couldn’t tell. Liana just coughed a few times, and he was so nervous.
However, it doesn’t matter anyway, after all, the child in her belly is not his.
She subtly tugged at the corner of her lips and spoke calmly, “Oh, I didn’t ask about that.”
Vincent furrowed his brows and his thin lips twitched. Before he could speak, Abbie preemptively uttered the phrase he always loved to say, “I know, Liana is your old friend, and you should take care of her.”
She had a faint smile on her face, but Vincent felt a bit uncomfortable.
He furrowed his brow and scrutinized her with concentration.
Lately, I felt inexplicably that since that incident, she seemed to not care about anything.
He felt a bit strange in his heart, and his gaze fell on the stack of examination forms held in Abbie’s hand. “Why did you come to the hospital? Where do you feel uncomfortable? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I’m fine,” Abbie nonchalantly stuffed the examination forms into her bag and casually added, “Just came for a check–up.”
Medical examination?
She clearly didn’t just come out from the medical examination department.
Vincent noticed a slight difference, his deep eyes staring at her, trying to find any trace from her calm face.
Just as he was about to continue questioning, Liana suddenly took hold of his hand. “Vincent, my film is almost ready, would you accompany me to see it?”
Vincent turned around and saw Liana’s gentle face. His brows and eyes relaxed a bit, he responded with a “good,” and then looked at Abbie.
