Liam, his eyes bloodshot, stood behind me. He gripped my wrist tightly, dragging me towards Chloe’s hospital room.
“Aurora Hayes, didn’t I tell you to put away your petty tricks? Don’t lay a finger on Chloe!”
“Chloe’s parents died when she was young; she finally found me as her only support, and you can’t even tolerate her? You found someone to bully her in broad daylight?”
“Aurora Hayes, I was truly mistaken about you. I never imagined you could be so wicked.”
! struggled desperately, feeling like a dog being dragged. He pulled me all the way to Chloe’s hospital room door. Inside, Chloe was huddled in the corner, wrapped in a blanket. Tears stained her pale face, and a faint blush peeked from her collarbone.
Liam kicked me hard to the ground. The metal edge of the bed frame dug painfully into my back.
“Apologize!”
I gritted my teeth, trying to control my trembling body from the intense pain. The injury on my palm touched the ground, staining the bandage red.
“Liam Hayes, what exactly did I do wrong? Why do I need to apologize?”
At this moment, Chloe’s tears flowed uncontrollably, and she sobbed softly. “Sister–in–law, I know you don’t like me. If you want to force me to leave, you can just say so directly. There’s no need to find someone to disgrace me.”
“It’s my fault. I knew Aurora hated me, but I still stayed by Liam’s side. I’ll leave now, I won’t cause Aurora any more trouble…”
With that, Chloe actually climbed onto the hospital window sill, looking as if she was about to jump. This was the twenty–eighth floor. My heart instantly leaped into my throat.
Liam immediately pulled her down right in front of me, holding her close and soothing her. The next second, his cold gaze met mine. Liam grabbed a handful of my hair, forcing my head down hard onto the ground. He gritted his teeth, his expression savage.
“Aurora Hayes, if you play any more tricks, and anything happens to Chloe, I’ll make you pay with your life.”
My scalp tingled from the pull, and my forehead hit the cold marble floor with a heavy thud. Warm liquid trickled down my brow bone and into my eyes. The salty taste of blood exploded in my nostrils. I mumbled weakly, “Let go of me, I’m in so much pain.”

But Liam seemed to be possessed, completely oblivious to my bleeding forehead. All my love for him vanished at that moment. Julian’s image flashed through my mind.
Julian, save me.
Just as my head swam, and I was about to lose consciousness, the hospital room door was kicked open. A deep, magnetic male voice rang out beside my ear.
“Let her go!”
