“I ain’t no damn fool! Get lost!”
Blow after blow, I started thinking about ending it all.
Luckily, I was still in the hospital. A nurse found me in time and brought me back from the edge.
After recovering, I tried to contact Harry, but every call went straight to voicemail. There was no way to reach him.
The gang didn’t let up either–they kept harassing me nonstop.
Under pressure, I had no choice but to take a path of no return.
I got in touch with a thug I used to know.
“Todd, I wanted to ask… how much does a kidney go for?”
“Huh? Are you short on cash? You have to do a health check first. If all’s good, you can get 75 grand.”
“Alright. I’ll get checked. Can we speed it up?”
“Still need a match. Come by and get your blood drawn. We’ll see if there’s a fit.”
It seemed like luck was on my side. In just three days, Todd found a buyer
who matched.

Chapter 7
After confirming my kidneys were fine, I looked at the 75,000 dollars in my account and lay down on the cold operating table in the black clinic.
As the anesthesia kicked in, I gradually lost consciousness.
When I could move again, a week had passed–but I still owed 45,000 to the loan sharks.
I contacted the gang again and went back to the same abandoned warehouse.
“How much did you bring this time? If you try to mess with us again, I don’t care about the money–I’ll cut you up!”
The scarred guy warned me with a fierce glare.
“Here’s 75 grand. I still owe you 45 grand. I’ll figure something out.”
“Well, well. Didn’t think that loser Harry had a decent sister. In just a few days, you managed to scrape together 75 grand.”
Seeing the thick bundle of green bills, the scarred guy finally smiled for the first time.
“I don’t have time to waste. One more week. If you still can’t pay, by street rules–I’m taking an arm.”
Hearing that, I pulled my clothes aside and ripped off the bandage.
“That 75 grand came from selling my kidney. I’m not raising another 45 grand in a week. Might as well cut me up now.”

He stared at the long surgical scar on my right side and went silent.
Chapter 7
As footsteps approached, he stepped in front of me and looked down.
“Didn’t expect this from you. You’ve got guts.
“Harry is a spineless coward. You’re tougher than him.
“… Forget it. We’ll call that 45 grand for your recovery fee. You don’t owe it anymore.”
With that, the scarred guy turned and left the warehouse with his crew.
They were gangsters, sure–but when they saw I’d sold a kidney to pay off my brother’s debt, they looked at me
with
respect.

And that’s where the memory ends.
Chris and Calista trembled as they took off their glasses.
Harry went berserk, grabbing me and shouting, “Why? Why did you kill Mom and Dad?!”
“Are you trying to atone? Yea
this is all just atonement…”
Chris rushed over to support him, but Harry shoved his brother’s hand away. “Don’t be fooled by her memories!
“If she hadn’t killed our parents, we wouldn’t have suffered so much growing up!”
“Harry, what really happened back then?” Calista asked, confused.
After a few deep breaths, Harry began to speak.
“I failed in my business and got buried in debt. Loan sharks threatened to kill me.

Chapter 7
“I was terrified. I knew Kirana must’ve had some savings at home, so I staged a break–in. After knocking on the door, I took 15 grand from the
house.
“I… I didn’t expect… I thought if they couldn’t find me, they’d back off…
“All these years, I was just glad I ran in time… I didn’t know Kirana paid off the debt for me…”
He couldn’t go on.
All the excuses seemed meaningless in the face of what I had done for him.
.
After hearing Harry’s confession, Chris and Calista fell silent.
They had never imagined that the sister who always seemed distant had given up so much for them—even her body and organs.
wwwwwwwww.
Unable to grasp what I had gone through, the only way they could cope was by telling themselves it was karma for me killing our parents.
The comments were flooded with condemnation of my siblings.
“These three are heartless. After everything their sister did, they still went through her memories.”
