Chapter 7
I stayed quiet, feeling that the more I looked into the matter, the more
bizarre it seemed.
Gradually, the pain from my wound began to intensify, and I couldn’t bear it any longer. My vision blurred, and I passed out.
When I woke up, I found myself in the hospital.
As soon as the doctor saw me awake, he walked in while grumbling!
“Hmph, I never expected you’d make such a scene over some fame and fortune. Did you know Stella’s locked up?”
I stared at the doctor in silence.
I’d often gotten hurt practicing combat and would always go to his private hospital for treatment.
I never imagined that even the doctor, who had been treating my injuries all this time, was so deeply infatuated with Stella.
Seeing that I didn’t respond, the doctor muttered under his breath and advised me to make things easier.
I slowly got up and punched his face.
“Get lost. Don’t come back when you don’t realize who your boss is.”
Hearing the commotion, my mother quickly rushed in with her guards.
The doctor cried out, but he was still thrown out like trash.
I wanted to talk to my mother about the strange things going on. But before I could, the door was suddenly kicked open.
It was Luke and Naomi.
When my mother saw them, she froze. “Naomi, you’re my sister.”
Naomi seemed guilty, but she still stepped forward.
“I’m sorry, Queenie.
“I’ve only made one mistake in my life. Now that I’ve met Luke again, I have no choice but to help him.”
My mother had always been strong and honorable. She never imagined she’d one day stand against her sister. Her hands trembled slightly.
“Is it truly worth it, just because of love?” she asked.
Before Naomi could answer, Luke stepped forward, smirking.
“Queenie, do you know why I came to you? I’m getting justice for my sister. This is all for Stella!”
His words sounded confusing. Neither my mother nor I could make sense of them.
When he noticed our shocked expressions, his face twisted with anger.
“You seriously don’t remember? How dare you forget!
“Stella used to be Skye’s study partner. But Skye crushed her arms and legs! How can you not recall that? Do our lives mean nothing to you?”
When I heard that, a blurry memory surfaced in my mind.
Back when I was younger, I had a problematic study partner. After school, she’d try to convince me to go out partying. She even tried to arrange men for me, saying I needed to gain experience.
I was still just a teenager then, too naive to understand her intentions. When I turned her down, she brought me to a gambling table.
Since gambling was banned by Blueclaw, my mother came quickly with her guards. After watching the security footage and seeing everything that happened, she didn’t hesitate to break my study partner’s limbs and throw her out.
I never realized that girl was Stella.
No wonder she hated me so much and risked everything to ruin me and take everything I had.
All of that came from that one event.
But being my study partner had strict rules, and the punishments were clearly listed in the contract.
Plus, my mother gave Stella a large payout after driving her away.
I didn’t feel we had done anything wrong.
But at this point, the hatred between us ran too deep. Arguing over who was right would be meaningless.
Naomi lifted her hand. Right away, several people stepped out of the shadows.
“You’re still my sister, Queenie. I don’t want to push you too hard.
“If you’re willing to break Skye’s limbs yourself to make up for Stella,
give up the Blueclaw, and name a new leader, then we can put this behind us.”
After Naomi spoke, Stella came out from behind the group, staring at me unscrupulously.
