He kicked Arthur hard in the shoulder, knocking him over.
The cigarettes scattered across her
grave.
“Arthur Phoenix, I swear to God–you make me sick.”
“If it was just your damn sex drive, I could’ve understood you hiring a hooker! I could’ve forgiven that.”
“But you picked Vivian?”
“That trashy woman doesn’t even compare to Elaine and yet you let her ruin your life!”
“You wanted her to have your heir. You were ready to make her part of the family!”
“Now you’re crying at Elaine’s grave like you didn’t murder her with your own hands?”
“Where was this regret when she was alive?!”
Arthur didn’t move. He lay there in the dirt for a long time.
Then finally, he lifted his head.
“Marcus… you’re my best friend…”
“But even you don’t understand.”
“Elaine had a kid. That’s why I felt it was unfair.”
Marcus’s expression shifted. “Elaine… had a child?”
Arthur nodded miserably.
“Vivian showed me the paternity test.”
“Her ‘little brother‘ from back home… he was actually her son.”
Marcus’s fists clenched.
He took one step forward–and slammed another kick into Arthur’s shoulder.

“We all knew what kind of person Elaine was!”
“You believed Vivian over your own wife?!”
Arthur lay there sobbing, face smeared with dirt and tears.
