I didn’t realize how deep his background ran until the county signed off on a new factory park
project.
A facility for six thousand workers.
The opening ceremony alone required ten thousand flower pots.
He took the entire order–without even telling me.
“Elaine, praise me!” he grinned like a kid.
I forced a smile.
The favor was too heavy.
I knew what he wanted.
But the one thing he truly desired… was the one thing I couldn’t give.
“Lucas,” I said, “once we finish this order, let’s talk.
He looked serious. “Okay.”
We spent two weeks preparing.
