Thousands of meters above the ground, light and soft clouds floated and swayed outside the window, seemingly within reach.
After taking a short nap, Ruth woke up and saw a pair of pitch–black pupils staring at her without blinking.
She picked up her phone and pressed it, only to see that it had been just two hours ago. Unable to help it, she frowned.
Seeing her expression, Liam quickly handed over the warm water he had prepared long ago, his voice tinged with a hint of nervousness.
“Did you have a nightmare? Or did you dream about something unpleasant?”
Ruth happened to be thirsty as well, so she took the glass of water and drank a few sips.
After she put down the cup, a plane happened to fly over a city.
She stared at it for a while, and when she looked away, she saw Liam with a face full of grievances.
“Ruth, I confessed everything to you, why have you been ignoring me? Are you still mad at me?”
Ruth suddenly realized that she hadn’t said a word all afternoon.
At first, she was shocked by what he said, and her mind kept replaying past events. She was in no mood to talk.

Without waiting for him to finish, Ruth covered his mouth with her hand, her tone filled with helplessness.
