The venom in his voice burned.
As if I was the one at fault.
I stared at the blood spreading across the floor.
In a daze, I saw it pool into the shape of a tiny baby, its chubby little hand reaching out to
“Mommy…”
I couldn’t hold it in anymore. The tears poured down.
“Take her to the hospital,” I choked. “When you get back… I’ll sign it.”
Arthur rushed out, carrying Vivian like she was made of glass.

Arthur’s eyes glowed with happiness.

The door slammed open.
Marcus stormed in, grabbed Vivian by the hair, and yanked her aside. “You filthy bitch. I’ll give you three seconds to disappear.”
“Otherwise, I won’t be responsible for what happens next.”
Arthur jumped up, grabbing Marcus’s arm. “Marcus! Just because you’re my friend doesn’t mean you can go this far-”
“Screw your friendship!” Marcus roared, red–eyed.
“While you were screwing this tramp, Elaine was loading up a moving truck.”
“That truck caught fire.”
“She’s dead. Burned to death.”
