Chapter 12
“Of course it was Sylvie.”
Just as Alaric finished speaking, the assistant suddenly slammed on the brakes, causing the tires to screech loudly against the ground.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Savrelle!” the assistant apologized frantically, breaking out
in a cold sweat.
Surprisingly, Alaric did not get angry.
He just raised his eyes coldly and looked through the lenses at his assistant in the rearview mirror, “This answer, is it so shocking to you?”
The assistant’s hands holding the steering wheel were trembling slightly. It was more than just shocking – it was mind–blowing!
But he didn’t dare to say directly, he could only hint: “But… but I see you treat Ms. Pritchard very well, even better than Ms. Ainsley…”
Alaric’s slender fingers pressed against his forehead as he leaned back into the genuine leather seat. “That’s because she saved me,” he said.
The neon lights outside the car window brushed past his sharply defined profile, and his usually calm and composed eyes showed a hint of fatigue.
He closed his eyes, memories flooding back like a tide.
During high school, he was known as the high school heartthrob. His drawer was filled with love letters every day, and there were always girls pretending to bump into him in the hallway.
At the most exaggerated time, a girl directly used roses to form a heart-

shaped confession under the teaching building.

“Mr. Savrelle, why don’t you pretend to get closer to a girl?” the student council president suggested to him, “That way, everyone else will back off.”
He thought the idea was good.
Who should I choose?
His gaze swept across the playground, and he saw Clarisse feeding the stray cats.
The sun was shining brightly that day. She was wearing a white school uniform skirt, squatting under the tree, giving off a pure and flawless vibe.
It was her.
Since then, he began to consciously notice how different Clarisse was
from the others.
He only took the water she handed him, only looked in her direction during the speech, and even tacitly agreed to the rumors about them in school.
The effect was immediate, and the number of love letters sharply
decreased.
On the day of graduation, Clarisse invited him to a coffee shop.
As they were crossing the street, a runaway car came rushing towards them.
At the critical moment, Clarisse pushed him away.

Amid the screeching of brakes, he saw Clarisse being thrown out like a rag doll.
On the sickbed, the pale–faced girl weakly said, “Alaric….. I have no regrets…”
Later, the doctor diagnosed that Clarisse’s internal organs were damaged and she needed to go abroad for long–term recuperation.
Out of guilt, over the years, he would basically fulfill any request she
made.
The only thing he was grateful for was that, because of Clarisse’s words, he had taken the initiative to “educate” Sylvie back then.
At the thought of this, a slight curve unconsciously appeared at the corner of Alaric’s lips.
The scene of meeting Sylvie for the first time is still vivid in my mind.
That day at the top floor of the Savrelle Group, he was reviewing documents when the door was suddenly pushed open.
A flash of red dress caught my eye.
Sylvie leaned against the door, her red lips slightly upturned: “Mr. Savrelle has such a big ego, making me wait for half an hour.”
The sunlight shone through the French windows, casting a golden edge on her. She was as bright as a flame, unexpectedly burning into his black and white world.
At that moment, he appeared calm on the surface, but his heart skipped a beat.
After that, she kept causing trouble in various ways.

I added salt to his coffee, folded his important documents into paper airplanes, and even wore sexy pajamas to sway back and forth while he was in a meeting…
He responded to each move one by one, advancing step by step.
The most impressive thing was that time when drugs were used.
He had long noticed that the coffee was off, but he deliberately drank it
anyway.
When the medicine took effect, he successfully pinned the ferocious little wildcat on the desk as he had hoped.
“Alaric!” she exclaimed, her eyes turning red with anger, “You jerk!”
“Sure.” He bit her earlobe, “Ms. Sylvie wants to play, right? I’ll accompany her.”
Later, he would ask her every time, but he never said he loved her.
Just because he knew that her love for him was far less than what he had buried deep in his heart.
If I had told her, I was afraid the little wildcat would become arrogant and spoiled, and I was even more afraid that if she got bored, she would run
away.
“Mr. Savrelle, we have arrived.”
The assistant’s voice brought him back to reality, and Alaric then realized that the car had already stopped at the private airplane runway.
After boarding the plane, he unusually did not deal with the documents, but continued to reminisce about the moments with Sylvie.
When he carried her back home, tears silently soaked the warmth of his

neck.
She was clearly furious, but still sneakily placed a glass of warm water by his bedside when his stomach was hurting.
Every time she came back from a business trip, she would throw herself into his arms in her soft red dress.
The Adam’s apple rolled involuntarily, and Alaric experienced for the first time what it meant to feel “homesick“.

The next evening, the plane landed.
Alaric walked down the gangway, his eyes unconsciously searching for that familiar figure.
Every time he came back in the past, Sylvie would be wearing a red dress, waving at him from afar, and then she would fly into his arms like a happy little bird.
“Alaric! I miss you!”
Whenever this happened, his eyes would darken and he couldn’t wait to get home and just carry her into the car, making her legs weak with pleasure.
“Alaric!”
A familiar voice came.
Alaric unconsciously raised the corners of his mouth, but froze in place when he turned around.
