Chapter 15
Alaric was struck as if by lightning, his fingers gripping the phone tightening suddenly. “What did you say?!”
Just then, the car entered the tunnel, the signal was interrupted, and the call was automatically disconnected.
“Turn around! Head to the Ainsley’s residence!” Alaric’s voice was chilling, with a rage in his eyes that had never been seen before.
The assistant was so scared that the steering wheel slipped, and he quickly turned the car around.
He had never seen Alaric like this before.
The man, who had always been calm and composed, now had bloodshot eyes and a tightly clenched jaw, as if he was on the verge of losing control in the next second.
The car sped to the Ainsley’s residence, and Alaric kicked open the door and barged in.
Devin was sitting on the sofa drinking tea when he saw Alaric and almost dropped his cup in shock. “Alaric? What are you doing here?”
“Sylvie got married to Orlando?” Alaric spoke slowly, each word sounding like it was being forced out from between his teeth.
Devin was taken aback, then smiled ingratiatingly and said, “Yes, she got married three days ago. You’ve always been complaining about Syl being too noisy, right? Well, that dying Mr. Garrow from Orlando offered a whopping five billion to marry a bride for good luck, so I sent her over. Now you can be with Clarisse without any interference…”

“Who told you I liked Clarisse?!”
Alaric suddenly smashed his fist on the coffee table, shattering the glass surface instantly.
He couldn’t believe that this so–called father had actually sold his own daughter for five billion.
“Come here,” he said in a cold voice, “and smash this villa for me!”
The assistant immediately rushed in with people, and all the porcelain, furniture, and famous paintings turned into pieces in an instant.
Devin’s face turned pale: “Alaric! What are you doing?!”
“From today on,” Alaric paused between each word, “the Ainsley Group – bankrupt.”
“No! Alaric! You can’t do this!” Devin pleaded as he lunged forward, “Think of the friendship between me and your father…”
“Friendship?” Alaric sneered, “You think you’re worthy of friendship
too?”
Just then, Clarisse burst in.
“Alaric! Why did you treat Devin like this?” she exclaimed hysterically, understanding something, “You’ve fallen for Sylvie, haven’t you?”
“Yes, so what?”
Clarisse was struck as if by lightning, and then burst into a wild laughter, saying, “But she will never like you again!”
“You liked her, but didn’t say it. Everyone thought you liked me!” she shouted hysterically. “I bribed your servant to fill your study with my photos. Do you think Sylvie saw them?”

“And those people in prison who ‘took care‘ of her, they were all arranged in your name!
“Why do you think she burned the villa? Because I told her that you copied the surveillance footage of your intimate moments, just to have leverage over her!
Clarisse laughed twistedly, “She wasn’t forced to marry, she had
completely given up on you and willingly married someone else!”
“With Sylvie’s personality, even if you explain it clearly, she will never look back!”
“After all, the surveillance was copied by yourself, you went to pick her up, and you personally sent her into the detention center!
“All of this was caused by you!”
Every word stabbed into Alaric’s heart like a knife.
He remembered Sylvie’s unusual behavior in recent days.
She no longer threw tantrums, no longer clung to him, and even couldn’t be bothered to reply to his messages. She burned down the villa, left decisively, without even looking back.
She had already seen those photos, heard those rumors, and was completely hopeless about him.
As for monitoring…
He did indeed make copies, but only wanted to keep them for his own enjoyment. He remembered the slight frown on her face every time she was moved, remembered her stubbornness in biting her lip and refusing to speak, remembered the redness in the corners of her eyes when she reached climax. Those images, he couldn’t bear to delete.

But now, all of these have become knives stabbing at her.

“Clarisse,” he turned around, his voice as cold as ice, “You will pay for
this.”
Devin lunged forward, grabbing his arm. “Alaric! You can’t do this! The Ainsley family has been around for centuries, and your father and I were best friends. You can’t…”
“Fine.” Alaric shrugged off his hand, his eyes devoid of any warmth. “I’ll give you a choice.”
“Clarisse and her mother,” he paused between each word, “were married off together to the seventy–year–old man from the Ferguson family in Chicago.”
“Otherwise, by this time tomorrow, the Ainsley Group would have completely disappeared.”
Devin shivered all over and finally gritted his teeth, saying, “Someone come! Tie them up!”
Clarisse screamed and struggled, “Devin! You can’t do this! You said my mom was your first love, and you would treat me like your own daughter!”
“Shut up!” Devin slapped him, “If it weren’t for you taking matters into your own hands, things wouldn’t have turned out like this!”
In the deafening cries of Clarisse and Thalia, Alaric left without looking back.
“Arrange the plane,” he said to his assistant, “and immediately go to Orlando.”
After getting into the car, Alaric held onto the pearl necklace tightly, his knuckles turning white.

He couldn’t imagine what Sylvie would look like married to someone else.
It was impossible to make that little wildcat belong to someone else.
He had to bring back Sylvie.
Even if he had to spend everything he had.
