Seeing what was happening,
Evelyn n felt her heart was bleeding.

Evelyn woke up again, the hospital room was dead silent.
She struggled to sit up.
The searing pain from her ribs and legs made her break out in a cold sweat

Evelyn pulled at the corner of her mouth and put down her phone.

“Mrs. Gregson, you broke three ribs and fractured your left shin. You need to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation.*

“Where is your family? We need your family’s signature.”
Evelyn said calmly, don’t have any family.”
In the next few days, no one came to see her.
The nurses sympathized with her and would occasionally give her an extra box of painkillers.
It wasn’t until the day Evelyn was discharged that Reuben finally showed up.
“Addy was frightened. She can’t be left alone these days,” he said calmly, “How’s the recovery? Do you need to stay a few more days? I can bring the kid to take care of you.”
Evelyn shook her head.

She was such a fool for believing Reuben still cared.

For the next three hours, she was like a puppet, trying on those dresses one by one under Reuben’s command.
