A month of happiness passed.
I suddenly received a colossal sum of money, with the memo “Divorce Property Distribution.”
It hit me. I was indeed entitled to half of Blake Sterling’s assets; I just hadn’t expected it so soon.
My lawyer informed me that Sterling Enterprises was likely facing bankruptcy.
Blake had transferred my rightful portion to me. He was currently dealing with even more pressing issues at the company.
Only then did I learn that Sterling Enterprises had been reported for tax irregularities.
The informant was none other than Skylar Vance, whom Blake had once doted on the most.
Before I left, Mr. Davis had come to see me. He’d hoped I could persuade Blake.
Skylar Vance’s new film role was a financial executive. She’d pestered Blake to let her practice for a day in the company’s finance department.
But at that time, I couldn’t even see Blake, and he didn’t want to see me.
Mr. Davis had warned Blake that this posed a great risk, but Skylar had snapped back at him, and Blake hadn’t reacted at all.
The next day, Skylar, dressed in a tight business suit, dominated the finance department, almost emailing the financial report to a public address.
After a day of chaos, many shareholders expressed their dissatisfaction at a meeting, but Blake suppressed it.
Skylar Vance understood financial reports. Not only did she read the reports, but she also opened the CFO’s computer when no one was around and browsed for two full hours.
Such a lapse in security within a large corporation was simply outrageous.
To prevent shareholders from finding out, Blake ordered the surveillance footage to be deleted.
He still doted on Skylar Vance, unaware that this indulgence had set a massive trap for him.
I clicked on the financial news. Sure enough, the news of Sterling Enterprises‘ bankruptcy had topped the trending list.
With the divorce property distribution and tax issues, Sterling Enterprises was on the brink of collapse.
Just then, I received an unknown call.
A familiar voice spoke.
“Moonlight, are you satisfied with this outcome?”
“Skylar Vance won’t provoke you anymore, Moonlight. Have you forgiven me?”
I didn’t answer. Instead, I hung up, turned off my phone, and rushed to a restaurant to drink heavily with Chloe.
