Chapter 28

Third Person’s POV

The night air was thick with tension as Alpha Maximus sprinted through the dense forest, his massive black wolf form slicing through the shadows like a storm. The mate bond pulsed within himurgent, panicked, fragile. Rebecca. She was weakening fast. He could feel her terror like a dagger to his heart, the bond screaming with her every fading heartbeat

They had reached the outskirts of the vampire strongholdan eerie mansion hidden deep in a forgotten woodland village where the undead lived under a bloodstained moon. Beside him, his warriors growled, fur bristling, fangs bared. Beta Yuan kept pace beside him, low and ready

Maximus shifted back into his human form, bare feet crunching on the gravel path leading to the wroughtiron gates. His chest heaved with fury. His fists were clenched, claws threatening to rip through his skin. She’s here,he snarled, voice rough and guttural. They’re bleeding her dry, I can feel it.”

The vampires were waiting. Lines of them stood beyond the gatesguards, nobles, and warriors alike. Their red eyes glowed in the moonlight, emotionless but determined. Behind them, shadowed figures began to emergehealed vampire hoodlums, their eyes no longer clouded by madness. They stood taller, stronger. And that made Maximus bum hotter with rage. They were healing. That meant Rebecca was losing everything.

We do not wish for war,one of the vampire leaders said, stepping forward. His voice was cool and calm, too calm for Maximus’s taste But we will do what we must. Our kind faces extinction

You’re already dead,Maximus growled. If you don’t release my mate, I’ll make sure of it.

The vampire’s smirk vanished. The gates opened with a slow creak, not in surrenderbut as a challenge

Maximus shifted without hesitation, his howl ripping through the air. A cry of agony and war. His warriors followed, launching forward like a tidal wave of fur and fury

–

Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Rebecca lay atop an ornate stone altar, her body bound by glowing silver chains etched with ancient runes. Her skin was pale, her lips trembling. Around her, robed vampires chanted, drawing her life essence through an arcane ritual. The crimson light emanating from her chest flickered like a dying flame

She whimpered, her mind foggy, her strength nearly gone. She wanted to scream, to call for help, but she could barely breathe. Her bones felt hollow, her heartbeat slow. Was this what death felt like

Then she heard it

The howl.

His howl.E

Maximus.

Tears flooded her eyes as strength flared in her soul. Her wolf, silent for so long, surged within her. Her lips parted, and she howleda cry of desperation, of love, of resistance

Outside, Maximus skidded to a halt. His ears

twitched, Rebecca,he whispered, breath catching. Her voice was faint in the night air, but it was enough

He roared, barreling through vampire guards. Claws met fangs, bone met flesh. The night was filled with battle cries and growls, but Maximus did not stop. He carved a path of destruction straight to the mansion doors, his wolf form bloodied and battered

Move!Beta Yuan bellowed, following behind with the warriors

Inside, two vampires held Rebecca down as the ritual neared completion. The bloodred light brightenedand then shattered like glass when Maximus crashed through the walls, roaring with rage. He was pure fury incarnate, his golden eyes blazing as he slammed into the vampires, throwing them against the stone walls with a snarl that echoed like thunder.

Don’t touch her he shouted

He shifted back into human form and rushed to her side. His hands cradled her face, brushing away her tears. Rebecca. I’m here.Maximus..she whispered weakly, her eyes fluttering

He hugged her tightly, trembling with rage and guilt. His arms wrapped around her protectively. Anyone else who lays a hand on her dies,he growled to the vampires gathering around them

Then an aged hand touched his shoulder. Maximus turned, fangs bared, but paused when he saw the old seerthe very one from the prophecy. Her eyes were cloudy, but her voice was clear.

Stop this, she said. Wl of you”

The vampires stilled. The wolves growled but held back

“I can feel it,the seer whispered, placing a hand on Maximus’s chest and another on Rebecca’s. The bond. It is true and strong. She is your mate.. and through this bond, she is not the only one who holds the cure. Now, it flows through both of you!!

Maximus frowned. What do you mean?

e her life. The ritual is not yet complete. You can reverse it but only

If you give her your essence, the seer said gently, you can save her together.”

Rebecca looked at Maximus with wide, glassy eyes. What. what does she mean?!!

It means we can survive this,Maximus said, brushing her hair from her face. You’re not dying for anyone, not even for a hundred vampires”

8:15 AM

It means we can survive this,Maximus said, brushing her hair from her face. You’re not dying for anyone, not even for a hundred

vampires.”

He lifted her gently from the altar and held her tightly. We’ll share what they needbut on our terms. No more death. No more pain.”

The seer nodded solemnly. They must mark each other again, this time not for mating, but for merging. Let the mate bond become a conduit. Let their union become the cure.”

With a deep breath, Maximus sank to the ground beside her. Rebecca nodded weakly, placing her hand on his chest. I trust you,she whispered

He leaned in and kissed hernot just as her mate, but as her salvation. As their lips met, a radiant golden light erupted from their bodies, blinding the room. Their mate bond surged and pulsed, and a wave of warmth spread through every vampire in the room. The taint of the poison began to lift

Rebecca gasped as strength returned to her limbs. Her heart pounded anew. She was alive

The seer smiled. It is done.
