Chapter 9
Melissa, holding her child, was stunned the moment our eyes met.
She never imagined that someone like me, the daughter of the richest man, would end up selling beef pasta for a man.
She didn’t care at all that everyone was mocking Alfred.
Her gaze kept drifting toward where Keiran and I stood.
More accurately, her eyes were locked on Keiran.
“Keiran, Helena’s not that fragile–let her go!
Keiran didn’t look happy at all.
He walked down the stairs with me still in his arms, but he didn’t let me go right away.
That action pushed Melissa over the edge.
She shoved the child into Alfred’s arms and suddenly ran towards Keiran.
“Keiran, please forgive me, I was wrong, I really mean it this time!
“I went out partying and had a child with another man, all just to get your
attention!
“Helena can’t have kids now. My family and your family are both big families, and they’ll certainly need heirs in the future!
“I’m the only one left who can give you a child!”
“That’s enough!” Keiran cut her off coldly, his face showing clear anger.
“I never liked you, and I never did anything that would make you think otherwise. I only helped you because of Mr. Mackey.”
When their eyes met, Melissa trembled slightly.
She realized she couldn’t change Keiran’s mind, so she turned to me and grabbed my hands. “Helena, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to steal your man.
“That scumbag tricked me. He said he was single, and I believed him. After I got pregnant, I didn’t know what else to do–I had to go find him!
Take Alfred back. I just don’t want to lose Keiran! I can’t live without him!”
I looked at her coldly and replied, “This isn’t a trash dump. I don’t need you giving Alfred back to me.”
When I glanced up, I caught Keiran giving me a small nod and locking eyes with mine.
It felt like something invisible between us had suddenly broken.
I chuckled and asked, “Keiran, do you like me?”
He didn’t think I’d ask so directly, and his entire face turned bright red.
He gave a small nod and said in a low voice, “I do.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek, leaving a bold red lipstick mark behind..
Even his neck flushed a deep shade of red.
My father cleared his throat and stepped up.
He said, “The reason I brought everyone together today isn’t just to celebrate my newborn grandson. More importantly, it’s to welcome
Helena back.
“Oh, and I’ve got great news to share! Helena and Keiran are getting married soon. I hope you’ll all be there to celebrate with us.”
Kneeling on the ground, Melissa swayed and collapsed.
Moments later, she snapped–ripping the child from Alfred’s arms and hurling him to the floor.
The child let out a few cries before falling completely silent.
“Keiran, I was wrong. The child is gone now. Can you forgive me? Can we start over? I honestly can’t live without you.”
Keiran didn’t argue with her anymore. Instead, he quietly called the police. to take her away from the house.
That day, I became the center of attention.
Once Melissa was escorted away, Alfred stood frozen on the steps, staring at the child’s blood on the ground without saying a word.
He only reacted when I walked by. Suddenly, he dropped to his knees and smacked himself across the face.
“I’m so sorry, Helena. I don’t deserve to be called a man!”
I didn’t say a thing and just kept going upstairs.
I later heard that he hit himself so hard that his face puffed up like a balloon, but he still wouldn’t leave.
In the end, the bodyguards had to drag him out.
