Topened my eyes, sat up, and saw the needle mark on the
back of my hand.
Shaking my head a few times, I immediately got out of bed and walked out.
I was still so weak all over.
I stepped out of the room.
Then I saw food on the marble dining table; it smelt so good.
Hearing footsteps, I tilted my head.
Then I saw Trevon in soft gray loungewear.
I clenched my fists instinctively.
“I can go home now, right?”
He said, “I talked to Mr. Duarte. You’ll stay with me for a month.”
“What?”
He walked past me and sat in the dining room.
Taking a deep breath, I tried my best to stop myself from losing it.
Then I said as calmly as possible, “But I’m about to be late for work.”

He took out his phone and made a call.
“Mr. Rodgers? Seraphina from the Cardiopulmonary Department needs to take a month’s leave.”
I strode forward, wanting to talk to Doug Rodgers, the
hospital’s president.
But he had already hung up.
I glared at him. “What right do you have to decide for me?
“Don’t go too far, Trevon.”
He glanced at me.
“I get to decide the Duarte Group’s fate. Is this reason good enough for you?”
I took a big step back.
Trevon went to work.
I couldn’t find my phone.
I panicked, looking for it everywhere.
“Ms. Duarte, are you looking for your phone? Mr. Parker took it with him.”
I rushed to the landline on the table, wanting to call Trevon to get my phone back.
But he wouldn’t answer no matter what.
I was furious.
Trevon kept me here.

Chapter 7
And there was nothing I could do.

They had broken my wings ages ago, and I could never break free.
One day, Trevon didn’t go to work in the morning.
Hannah was here.
She showed up in a foul mood. It seemed she had already known I was here.
She didn’t step inside the villa.
Glancing at me, who was bandaging an injured stray dog, she had a row with Trevon.
No woman in this world would tolerate another woman in her
fiancé’s home.
But this time, Trevon didn’t coax her patiently.
He stood in situ, his tone indifferent.
Then she followed him upstairs.
Through the glass wall, I looked at them until they entered a room on the second floor.
Looking away, I stroked the head of the stray dog. I was almost done bandaging it.
Half an hour later, I walked inside the villa.
Hannah happened to walk downstairs.
I continued to walk inside instead of stepping aside.

Chapter 7
Sure enough, she slapped me hard, her gentle facade crumbling.
“Bitch.”
She said this word loudly.

Standing on the staircase, Trevon happened to witness this.
I looked up at him.
Then I slapped Hannah even harder, the loud, crisp sound echoing.
“You’re so bitter and uneasy, aren’t you? Serve you right. You don’t know, do you? I’ve been sleeping with Trevon these days,” I said.
As expected, her expression changed drastically.
She almost slumped to the floor.
Then she ran away, seemingly wanting to escape the harsh reality.
I sneered at Trevon.
“I let her off easily. I want to beat her to death.”
He squinted, observing me, his gaze deep and threatening.
I waited for a few seconds; to my surprise, he didn’t come down to deal with me.
So, I turned around, fetched a bottle of antiseptic, and went back to the stray dog.
