As evening approached, Samuel had already made all the preparations to meet his beloved.
The pre–ordered engagement gifts had arrived. There were three pieces of top–luxury jewelry.
David explained. “The first one is a masterpiece by a jewelry design master from Aetheria, called Heart of Devotion. It’s very suitable for a marriage proposal.
The second one is Frosted Heart, designed by the champion of the last Global Jewelry Design Competition, who spent a whole year on it. It’s perfect for someone you care about.”
Samuel picked up each piece one by one. Both were very expensive, with prices exceeding 30 million dollars, but he felt that something was missing–that unique, irreplaceable quality.
David seemed to have sensed Samuel’s thoughts and then opened the third box. This was supposed to be the winning piece of this year’s Global Jewelry Design Competition. I only found out a few days ago when you asked to replace it with Ms. Sinclair’s work.
“This design is very unique. It’s made up of two bracelets. Separately, they are bracelets, but when combined, they form a pair of matching bangles. The interlocking teeth of the double chains are one–of–a–kind, making them anti–counterfeit and irreplaceable.”
He continued. “This piece is Vivian’s work. I thought, if possible, we could buy the design patent and ask her to create a few exclusive pieces for the Hartley Group’s jewelry line.”
When Samuel saw the bangle, he stopped hearing anything
For a long while, he couldn’t even feel his heartbeat.
He admitted that, at that moment, he was scared, scared that Vivian might be the person he had been searching for ten years, especially after all the outrageous things he had done to her.
“Mr. Hartley?” David noticed his distraction.
Samuel rubbed his chest, and it took a long time for the suppressed pain in his heart to ease.
At the same time, he calmed down.
In fact, this design didn’t prove anything. He guessed that Vivian might have seen something similar and got inspired.

“To the place where we first met,” Samuel said.
The place where they first met?
Celia caught that meaning precisely, and her heart skipped a beat. She suddenly lunged to grab the steering wheel.
“Don’t move.” Samuel was startled and pressed her down with one hand.
Celia saw the sapphire bracelet peeking out from the cuff of his suit sleeve and suddenly understood why such a cheap bracelet had been mixed in with so many valuable pieces of jewelry.
The heir of the Hartley family must have known about Samuel’s feelings for her and had given her the choice.
Celia had originally thought it was fine to keep a lapdog around, but now it wasn’t.

The sports car came to a stop just at the entrance of the alley.
Samuel’s face was ashen. “Do you recognize this place?”
He hadn’t expected her to call him a lapdog.
Just last night, she had said he was the most important person to her, and that wouldn’t change even if she married into the Hartley family.
Were all her sweet, cooing calls to Sammy just an act?
Celia glanced at the dark alley and the unfamiliar surroundings, feeling horrified. “Let me go if you don’t want to die.”
Samuel stared at her. “Look closely. Don’t you recognize it!
“You said you saved someone ten years ago. He was badly injured, with a T–shaped cut on his head.”
He brushed aside his bangs to show her a scar so faint it was almost invisible.
Celia didn’t want to have anything to do with him.
As the fleet of cars caught up, she jumped out and ran over. “Catch him. He’s trying to assault me.”
The Hartley family’s bodyguards all got out of their cars. Seeing the person Celia accused, they were stunned.
Samuel slowly opened the car door, got out, and looked at Celia, who was loudly demanding his punishment with the support of the Hartley family. His expression grew even more unpleasant.
David arrived late and kindly reminded her, “He is the heir of the Hartley family. Ms. Sinclair, whose eyes do you want to gouge out, whose bones do you want to strip?”
“W–What?” Celia shuddered violently.
Samuel didn’t feel like talking anymore.
He ordered someone to take off Celia’s ruby bracelet and combine it with his sapphire bracelet, but the teeth couldn’t mesh at
